Timing is great, as is need. Credit is allocated-rare when it isn't.
Ontario residents have a tax credit coming in November on the 10th (if you did your 2010 tax return and qualified).
Note credit name change for July 2012, when the Ontario tax credits will be combined into one and into a monthly amount. http://www.rev.gov.on.ca/en/credit/stc/index.html

how do we find out what our new amount will be each month? Is there a calculator?

If you have registered for the My Account on the CRA page ..it will show you all the amounts you are supposed to get .
This October 5 - 2011 payment will be the same amount as the one you got on July 5 - 2011 .
The payments calendar goes from July to June & are based on your last year's return .
So all the payments from July -2011 to June - 2012 will be based on your 2010 IT return .

You can use the calaculator below to see how much the ON credits are going to be . It won't show you the HST credit but will show you the various other credits like OSTC , OEPTC etc .
