Thread: Have Prices Gone Up?
-

I was doing my shopping list using the BC/West Coast Flyer and noticing that price are up (as they switching over to Loblaws brands)? Have you guys noticed that as well?
i.e. they are now selling no name dozen eggs at $2.79 this week. Used to be $2.29 (sometimes $1.99) for SDM eggs.
Campbells chicken broth used to always be $4/2. $2.49 each this week.

I am not surprised; Some stuff i.e. eggs, tissues etc. at Loblaws are really expensive compared to SDM, and I really did not like that Loblaws bought SDM!

I'd have to follow the flyers over a month or two before I could say anything.
In Ontario there are usually a few off weeks where the eggs are higher. So it's not completely unusual. But with the exception of eggs, I rarely buy anything that is store brand at Shoppers, so I might not notice the difference.

Regular prices of things, I don't know.
But for the specials I usually go for, they've been similar. This past week eggs were 2.29, sometimes they are 1.99.
Royale TP 4.99, tissues .69
chips and cookies 1.99
I can't believe you were getting Campbell's broth for that price! I've never bought it at SDM, but other stores will have it on sale for $2.

maybe we should keep track of differences in price in this thread. I find that non-food items are about the same price, but food items have gone up. Activia yogurt is the same at 2.99 and Oasis juice at $2.99. But Ruffles chips are 2/$7. Used to be $1.77
Bacon in BC is $4.99/375g and cream is $1.99.
They should look at keeping the prices consistent across the country. Look at walmart, they've managed to do online shopping + free shipping!

Jsmile, but prices in the East (ON at least) are always cheaper than here in the west.
As for keeping prices consistent like WM online does - only problem is no fresh food on WM!
luckbealady - yup, I think the next time we'll just get a 1 kg slab of bacon. It goes for $10 around here.

I haven't bought much in groceries at my SDM lately but while chatting with the grocery manager, he pointed out the higher prices for some of the PC brand foods, like cereal.
I did learn too late to stock up that some of the Life food products I like have been discontinued, like the Simply Food All Butter Chocolate Chip cookies and the pistachios. Food shelves are getting bare in my SDM while they wait for PC stock to come in. Hope it will all be worth it in the end
SilkHave a great life!

I'm guessing prices have gone up because of inflation and someone has to pay for Loblaws buying Shoppers us the customers.
