I don't dream a lot... So I'm not sure if there are hidden meanings behind a dream. To me they aren't significant.

I tink they do...sometimes I dream of...umm dreams...lol...and some of it or something close to it actually comes true...most dreams are about recent things that hapened to u...so I guess your dream can be about things related to that...but about what WILL happen to u in the future...i dunno...thats my opinion

Sometimes they have a meaning, other times it's just a dream.

I have some pretty insightful dreams. Some have come true in one form or another. Other times I get this feeling that I cant describe and so I tell whomever is involved what may happen if they do such and such. 3 times I have been really accurate in my predictions - even scared me. I had a friend survive a plane crash because of this.

Well I am not sure if the specific content of a dream will actually turn out to mean something, usually the tone of the dream reflects what is going on in life (anxious, funny, etc).

In my neuropsych class I read a study that showed dreams occur because of something to do with the fact your brain continues to process the days' information while you sleep (even if the dream is completely unrelated).
