On this day in 1950, a new comic strip debuted which changed the comic strip world forever. That strip was Peanuts, and its impact on comics has been undeniable. Its characters had a deep philosphical and subversive bent, with children acting as adults. It was a strip like no other before it and there will never be another strip like Peanuts again.

This was the first strip -

The first strip from October 2, 1950.
From left-to-right: Charlie Brown, Shermy, (original) Patty.
Snoopy appeared in the third strip which ran.
