50% stickers were being applied to bakery items tonight... Zhers (meat has been 30% for as long as I can remember). Would not purchase bakery items at anything less than 50%... why bother really? Also DH was at a Loblaws and stickers were still at 50% for salads (fresh made ones).

Popped around the reduced bakery rack-slim pickings but the Roma pizza, the biscuit packs and some bread were all graced with 50% off pink stickers. Checked the personal care/supplements clearance area-most items have the pink 50% off stickers. Did not look at meat.
For some reason on the reduced produce racks, there were 30 or more packages of bananas on trays/with plastic all priced at $1.49. Never have seen so many packages of the fruit on the rack before! (Fortino's)2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

Has anybody received a response from Loblaws?
Just curious about what they said about the 50% discounts changing to 30%

No response back yet at all. EVERY kind of reduced for quick sale at my store is 30% now, including vitamins/personal care type stuff.

They used to discount meat that was about to reach its best before date by 50%, then changed that a year or so ago to 30%. I guess they found that customers still bought so now they have transferred the lower price reduction to baked goods.

Noticed the 30% off as well last week at my RCSS - I thought it was a joke! My fave cashier said they've started to do that now and even she was surprised by the move. So silly - 50% pretty much helps everyone out - they sell things that might not get sold and allows consumers to get some items at a better price.

It's probably due to wanting to recoup more of the cost and some profits in getting the meat out from the suppliers to the stores. Beef farms are hurting for labour that is going to the oilfields for higher paycheques.

Finally got an email back
Good afternoon,
Thank you for your email.
As you can appreciate, our market is one that has become increasingly competitive, however our customers will always continue to be our #1 priority. We continually challenge ourselves to remain competitive in the current market and environment through a variety of pricing methods, promotions and in-store programs.
At this time, we have adjusted our reduction program to 30%, to ensure we continue to offer great value pricing while still remaining competitive. I know this may not be the answer you were hoping for but I can assure you that offering our customers great value at low prices remains a major priority for our business, and we will continue to deliver on that promise as consistently as possible. Please be assured your comments have been shared with our Operations team for their review.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.
Sincerely,
Saika Kassam
