OP, yes they go fast. They are pushed to go fast, unfortunately.
And sometimes the scanner is so sensitive it double scans bar codes.

This happened to us just yesterday. DH and I went to Canadian tire. While there he noticed a bin with a whole bunch of fishing lures for 50% off. One of the lures had a huge sticker on it for $4 (that's supposed to be with the 50% off). He purchased about 6 of them. When the cashier scanned the one that was for $4, it scanned at $3.31 (odd number) so she deleted the $3.31 and added $4 manually. Ummm nope...lady you just deleted the scanned price for a higher price? She then corrected it to $3.31....of course, DH just standing there clueless. Once we got to the car, he says "good eye"....Yes dear, whatever you say dear!!
