Don't ever remember having a babysitter - I had three older sisters and an older brother so I assume they handled it all.

nope never had a sitter growing up, THAT would cost money...older siblings and parents were usually there.

I had a few sitters, both my parents worked (sometimes afternoon or nights).

My kids have only been watched by 2 people. My mom (our primary babysitter but she still works so doesn't happen often) and SIL (she now has 2 of her own so she doesn't really babysit anymore).

DH keeps asking me to start looking for a permanent sitter but I just haven't been able to bring myself to do it. lol

Mom and Dad were always at work (in and out of town) so I had a live in nanny up until 10. Then, a part-time babysitter who work after school hours.

My mom had many different sitters from the neighborhood for us. I took full advantage of the situation when she was not at home. xD I was very good at manipulating the sitters and pretty much ran wild. xD
I was definitely THAT kid. They definitely earned their pay.

My kids- no babysitter ever. They attended preschool when they were old enough.

My grandmother was my babysitter so I was definitely good seeing I respected her....but her cooking was not the best lol.

I went to daycare and had sitters during the day quite often, even though my dad stayed home and didn't work. After my parents separated, we spent lots of time with my grandparents while mom was working. Grandpa only had to give you 'the look', he never yelled or did anything else and somehow we all would behave. There was one time when I was like 5 or 6, and my brother and I turned the bathroom into a splash park that caused my grandma to slip and break her collarbone... yup I still feel bad about that one.

I spent a lot of nights babysitting in high school and university. Probably one of my favorite jobs

I don't remember being babysat by anyone. I did babysit a few kids when I was in my teens. One little kid, who was 2 at the time, started calling me "Mommy" after spending a few weeks with me while his parent worked during the days. It was quite embarrassing and awkward. His mother quickly pulled him out of my care for fear he would grow too attached to me.

I had a sitter off and on for a period of a year. An older lady who was very nice. I was well behaved the majority of time.

LoL, what do you define as majority?....that could technically be 50.1% of the time!

Lol Dan! With the nice babysitter I was good. I had few others. One was quite miserable and I acted up with her.

i always went everywhere with mom and dad growing up

BUT here is my sitter story....last week hubby and i decided to take a parents only vacation down south this year, our son is in university and studying for finals. Our daughter is 9 and requires a sitter, my MIL volunteered. We left, yah...two happy kids, a MIL, a dog, and a SPOTLESS house. only to come back to a frustrated son, a 9 year daughter, a dog, a MIL and a disaster of a house. I know she wasn't here to house clean but holy smokes, our daughter and son did their regular chores plus our daughter watered my plants...other then that...zip...my white kitchen floors full of mud from the dog, you literally couldn't see the top of the kitchen table. And whatever she cooked, she just left the pots and pans...i was ready to cry.....after feeling refreshed, i was ready for some...blech i don't wanna even finish it....cheers off to find some wine

Growing up my Mom was a single parent and my grandparents took care of me, Mom's Mom and Mom's Grandpa were home on the farm all day so they watched me. Gave me a unique upbringing as they just took me everywhere with them, out to lunch with their friends did not matter they took me along. I was always able to out talk my friends with the "big" words I used as my friends put it. No need to act out as I was a spoiled as Mom said all I had to do was think maybe I might and I got it. We had a system if Mom said No, I asked Nanny, if Nanny said No, I asked Grandpa (my great grandpa), If Grandpa said No, I asked Hezy (My Mom's Dad) and he never said No to me.

When I got a little older we did have sitters at my Dad's before I was able to babysit mostly my brother's friends older sister and no acting out, not my style. Biggest issue was I was the boss and had to be in charge so a lot of times would wrangle my siblings into what I thought they should be doing.
