Wow have they ever started surge pricing Aerogarden plant food since Aerogarden stopped selling directly in Canada. Thanks for the heads up on the Schmidt products sold at Dollarama. **Also keep an eye out for hydroponic products at Canadian Tire and Walmart** ...you can sometimes get good deals.
Thanks
The lights are Aerogarden. I bought one of them when we first moved here as there is not window that gets direct sunlight and my wife missed fresh herbs always on hand. I then bought another one when i volunteered to do vegetable seedlings for my daughter when she bought a house and wanted to have a vegetable garden. The boot trays fit the basses of the lights perfectly and i dont have to worry about water running out onto the floor
When I was in the Amazing Home Store in Ancaster in March, I recall seeing one endcap with something Aerogarden stamped on it. Packages or boxes. Did not know about the cessation of products sold directly in Canada. Odd considering the two pictures above show jugs stating Made in Canada on the labels.
This store mostly carries Amazon items/returns so that would explain the Aerogarden items.
Perhaps a company bought the distribution rights to the brand's line of products?
I took the Kratky outdoors

The3 tomato plants were started in a Aerogarden and moved to the buckets about 3 weeks ago and the 2 cucumber plants were started in dirt and moved to the buckets about a week ago. 5 gallon buckets
These ones are dirt and wick the water from the bottom bucker

It has been a hot, dry summer with many visits to the garden by deer! They are coming right into town and now are dropping by our yard daily, snacking. We've had to start covering most things at night, even though the temps are well above zero, to keep them from eating the crops!
Most of my tomatoes are still green and on the plants, but there are a few ripe ones coming along!
I would love to learn a bit more about how you set up your Kratky buckets...Did you use a net basket with clay after you started things in the aerogarden?
p.s. not sure if you heard but aerogarden is going bankrupt. They apparently have good sales on in the US but for us, keep an eye out for clearance sales on Amazon for Prime and Black Friday.
@crafter
The lid has a built in net cup which i purchased at Amazon (a bit pricy) The cage is cabled tied to the inside of the cup for support. I just bought a bag of gravel from CT that i rinsed off instead of using the clay balls as the gravel is way cheaper. I drilled two holes in the lid and two in the sides of the bucket so that i could cable tie the lid to the bucket for support. There is also another hole that i drilled into the side of the bucket that acts as a overflow to control the depth of the water. Four of the five plants in the buckets were leftover seedlings from when i started them for my daughter and the fifth is a aerogarden starter. I also put a large stone at the bottom of each bucket for stability The cucumbers did not do near as well as the tomatoes.
The three smaller buckets in the second pick did really well. The are done with dirt in the top planter that is wicking water from the botton bucket. One of them has leaf romaine and one has a broccoli plant and the third is spinach. They all did really well and i have been harvesting a fall batch of the romaine
Thank you for the info about aerogarden i will watch as i am a fan of their products
That's awesome thanks for giving me the details. Really great to hear you grew spinach successfully..a lot of people have issues.
I'm hoping to try a few buckets in the basement this winter with a grow light. I just started some new bok choy, collards and kale.
re aerogarden yeah definitely, let's keep each other in the loop on sales. I know Cdn tire sells the aerogarden nutrients so I'll pick more up on a sale day.
@crafter
I used to have alot of trouble getting the spinach to germinate until i started to use the method to geminate them as in this video

Aerogardens are on sale for Prime Days as we suspected. go in via airmilesshops.ca for 10x the points.
Amazing price on the Harvest and the seed starter tray. I use the tray to start all of my outdoor plants.
