I harvested my April seeded garlic as the stalks completely withered within a few days of taking off the garlic scapes (Fortinos flyer is showing the product at $2.49 this week). Harvest is a mixed bag-some bulbs turned mushy-one or more cloves-or stayed off-white or had a tinge to outer skin layer that I was rubbing off after washing. I had to dispose of some of the bulbs. Noticed some cloves had yellow grooves from bulb end going up 2/3 of way-don't know if that reflected the two times I watered the bulbs in early July or the heat was causing stress on the bulbs.
Probably did not help matters that I stored the bulbs in a shed for two nights before washing and trimming the lot this morning. Sigh.
I actually found one garlic scape (late bloomer) on one stalk on Monday that had half-flowered.
You should see the flower shoots on the four arugula plants-about two feet tall. I better get some good seeds out of this bunch!2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

Harvested another 3 large ziploc bags of tender lettuce leaves. They are delicious but it's a challenge forcing a salad into every lunch and dinner menu when all anyone wants is carbs, salt and fat. Also bagged up plenty of bok choy.

Basil, thyme, chili, mint, lavender. The variety is small, I like ornamental plants more

Has anyone looked up the last frost date for next spring yet? lol I'm not ready just yet but starting to get the itch but I have checked the date.
Does anyone know if it's ok to order seeds during the cold part of winter? Want to order my daughter herb and microgreen seeds for her birthday.30

I think your seeds would be fine @crafter - I order year 'round.
Do you have a favourite place to shop for seeds? I like a lot of the smaller, heirloom seed businesses, but Veseys has a code for free shipping that is good until the end of this year. I'll see if I can find it.
Update: The code for free shiping from Veseys Seeds is GAVS20. As I understand it, there has to be at least one package of seeds in your order to qualify for free shipping. The offer does not apply to large/heavy items that have a shipping surcharge added.Last edited by TrueNorthTreasures; Tue, Dec 15th, 2020 at 12:44 PM.
Unique items and great deals to be found on the Halifax Cat Rescue Society auction page.

Thanks @TrueNorthTreasures
I just tried veggie container gardening for the first time last year. Boy is gardening addictive, I think I tried more than a dozen types of veggies.
I really like https://www.rainbowseeds.ca/store/c1..._Products.html . They are small heirloom and also have sprouting and microgreen packs. Their prices are really good.
A friend has also shopped from https://www.terraedibles.ca/ They are pricer, the seed packs are small but good vegetables. Their brassica mix is fantastic!
I'll check out Veseys seeds. Thanks for the code!30

Thanks for the information. The promo code will come in handy. I’m just one of these days starting to plan what I want to plant and grow next year. The main thing is that the promotional code does not expire by the time of my order. Although I will still make an order.

The romaine seems to be growing quickly. I'm hoping to harvest some in a few weeks.
No more recalls to worry about
