I cut up and froze more free rhubarb yesterday...hoping not to see anymore as I have tons now (not that I don't appreciate it). It was so tasty in the rhubarb crisp I made too.

Today was a great day for saving money for me as I happened to get free:
17 DVD's...have only seen 1 out of the whole lot
22 paperbacks...will keep me busy in the winter
2 cookbooks along with 10 older What's Cooking magazines.
All because the lady that posted on our local buy & sell is moving and did not want to pack them up.
Almost went out for lunch because I felt the urge... and decided to stay in and eat the food I brought instead. Not as exciting, but definitely better for the pockets.
Used my candle in the kitchen instead of turning on the light.

I didn't go into a grocery store today -sent hubby cause I was not feeling well -and he spent 26.18 a lot less than I would have for sure
Picked a couple of cukes from the garden, as well as a heaping bucket of beans. We have enough beans so I brought these to the mission in town that feeds the homeless - they were thrilled with them.
Went seeking out gifts today to take home. Found perfect gift for brother #1. Also found great gift for nephew #1 for Christmas. A little heavy, though. It was in the clearance so didn't want to pass it up. I may have to wear several layers of my own clothes home on the plane so we can meet the weight requirements. At least there are no weight requirements for PEOPLE yet on planes! (Shhhh! Don't give them any ideas! LOL!)
We picked apples for free at a lady's home today I canned 12 x 1 litre bottles and froze 10 cups of apples for the winter baking. Also canned pears yesterday 16x 500ml = pears were free as I posted on a local facebook page looking for free pears, and a lady contacted me. Last week I was given free strawberry rhubard, 53 cups are in the freezer for baking...yummers.
Kids got a free haircut in return for reading a book. Hairdresser was promoting literacy. Saved $30!

Free Stouffer's pin from DH's buddy at work for me today.
sold 2 items on kijiji .
and when I went shopping... made out a menu plan for the month.... and bought meat accordingly. trying to bring y grocery budget under control.
Canned a bushel of tomatoes from the garden which yielded 19 x 1 litre jars so much tastier than the store bought cans.
Redeemed a 'free' bag of dog food this weekend. Our pet store has a buy 12 get 1 free program, which is so nice since we use an expensive brand that doesn't have coupons.
I always loved this! We used to feed an expensive brand too but just recently switched to Costco's Nature's Domain. We are about half way through the bag and the dogs seem to be doing okay on it. I am still iffy about the switch - I am a dog food snob and buying dog food at Costco goes against everything I have ever believed - but we are saving at least 50% by switching and the ingredients look okay.
Spent just over 100$ at Costco on Sunday, including some fruit that will be made into juice in order to dilute the green juice I have in the freezer (I made it too green, couldn't drink it!) which will mean less waste from my kitchen! Woo
