Just wondering if anyone buys Brown eggs and how much do you pay for a dozen. I buy Brown eggs from a farmer. The chickens are free range and not caged. The farmer charges $2.00 a dozen and you get a mixture of medium to extra large eggs. I was at the local farmers market here in my town and Brown eggs were selling for $4 a dozen, which i thought was a bit much. So just wondering what the cost is across Canada.

Regular white grocery store eggs are about $2.79 per dozen here unless on sale. Not sure about brown-but I think the brown ones are just a different kind of chicken. Of course if you are talking free range, organic, added omega 3's etc, I have seen eggs up to $6 per dozen here which seems way over the top to me. Sounds like you are getting a great deal to me!

White Eggs seem to be a North American thing. In most of Europe, Brown eggs is more popular and the cost is lower. My guess is that they make us pay more for Brown due to it being "exotic" to these parts of the world? It's the only explanation I can think of, as I quite like Brown eggs
