“She really wanted to be a citizen that day,” said a source who witnessed the dispute. “She was absolutely willing to show her face for it and her husband was the one who was vehement that she should not and was trying to make us have her remain covered.”http://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-...stRecentReview

Quebec...the province of extra holidays...
I'm 99% convinced that last election the brood had the day off because of 1 school or more in the area being a polling station even though most of the others were not affected..
Given the brood go schools in different towns covered by the same school board, I having yet another long w/e with 2 outta 3..
Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!

It's funny I thought all schools closed and were used as voting stations. So where do you guys go to vote?

The voting station here is at the local community centre, although it was at the elementary school for the last provincial election. In the case of this area, there are more schools than needed for polling centres, so they certainly all do not need to be closed.
The school my mum teaches at back home is always used as a polling station since it is in the middle of the local area and easy to get to etc. They always get a teacher training session where they start at 10am so they can vote first thing. Not sure if the teachers get the day off locally, but schools are running here unless used as a polling station.

I just checked my voter card and it's at a seniors complex a couple of streets over. Last election I was in a different town and it was at a church hall. As I recall, when I lived in Northern Quebec we voted at the community's hockey arena. That was way northern Quebec though (Nunavik) and things are different up there than the rest of the province. I can't remember if the kids had that day off school; it was way too long ago.

We've always voted at nearby schools (three different cities) - for federal, provincial, and municipal. They seem to switch it up between elementary and high schools, public and separate.
However, school goes on as usual. I remember as a kid it was kind of exciting when it was voting day because all these people were coming to the school so it was different. The only thing that would change is that there would be no gym that day.

I can't believe this.
Look at this picture! Do you see his left arm? Do you see it?
That's unbelievable! I mean, really? He wants to be PM and he's wearing a wristwatch? What is he, stuck in the 1980s or something?
