We bought large cherry tomato plants this year (never seen them before), the harvest so far is great and hopefully the weather will stay good and we will get a lot more.

I planted some before I went away and came hone to about 20 lil cheeries that we ate before getting through thr front door
My problem is cutting the suckers and that I'm not sure exactly which part is the sucker lol

thats a ton of tomatoes!!

we did well also...lots of cherry tomatoes but i dont eat them...i meant to plant beefsteak tomatoes,,,lol

thats impressive. your picture is inspiring me to think about planting a garden in the spring. i think its smart to garden, think of the money you save with just your tomatoes. you can make tomato soup or pasta sauce, chili base, lots of options.

We bury the suckers...the nodes will sprout roots that help anchor the plants. Plant them deep enough so the sucker leaves are entirely under the earth, and the first strong branches are just above the ground.

I never knew anything about 'suckers' or what to cut or where to cut, i just planted them, put a round metal coily tomato stake thingy around them and watered them every day or two. what do you do with all the little yellow flowery things that grow on these suckers? is the yellow flower the actual vegetable? thanks for info.

thank you lecale - i had no idea of any of that. so just pick off them tiny little growths then. that is good information because honestly - my 2 little plants got so tall and so full, it was hard to even see what was growing in what you might call a tomato "Bush", kinda like a forst. it makes sense to me to cut back some the plant. thank you .

Amazing! I would love to grow tomatoes but I think the raccoons will eat them as soon as they are ready to pick.
