Was at Walmart Lasalle today and bought an item for 2.50 and had a coupon for 3.00 - they refused to give me my overage even though I showed them the french coupon policy. The manager just kept saying in Quebec we dont do that. I said the policy is in french and Walmart is Canada wide - not just in Quebec - why would the rules be different. He said that the rest of Canada has Walmart credit cards and quebec doesn't so we are different. I asked him for the "Quebec" policy in writing which of course he could not provide me. Took his name and the store phone number.
Will be calling head office on this. The cashier was sweet thought - kept saying she was sorry...I told her not to worry about it - she is only doing her job.
Told him that that is the policy for today you mean because I have received overages before. He said if he knew which cashier did that he would fire her on the spotThis thread is currently associated with: WalmartLast edited by couponlinda; Mon, Nov 14th, 2011 at 05:49 PM.

I never used to go to WM and only attempted a few times when I started couponing and found out about overages. However, it never worked for me, so I gave up on that too. I feel like herded cattle in there with the large crowds/ missing inventory/no coupons/rude staff.
On that note, the problem is that they DO make up their own rules and don't seem to care. However, could this new problem be related to WM not having an official policy right now?

There was a Walmart in Lachenaie that were ignorant with coupons. I just went elsewhere. Now that they will be opening up Targets and new walmarts at the old Zellers locations, it will be easier to pick and choose.
The Walmart in Vaudreuil is good. If the coupon is right for the product, they do not give hassles.

It was the same in my area before ... I called walmart canada and they confirm : WALMART SHOULD GIVE OVERAGE ! Walmart Canada called the walmart in my area to tell them they have to respect this policy and they have to tell their employees too !
I think you should call them too ... we have to make things change !

@socr, I've never had a good experience at the one near Namur
No overage for me even when giving the policy to the manager, she waved it off.

So is it just a matter of H.O. not caring enough to make sure policies are enforced in their stores? What can be done?

Linda,
Must be a stroke of bad luck because I was there on Saturday and had 5$ coupon for an item that cost 4.77... the cashier asked another cashier and was told "yes, full value". I'm glad I didn't have to run into the type of Mgr. you did...
I say try again, and contact head office in writing.
Friends don't let friends trade at max value
