Well, just a bit of a funny story....our Daughter and her Hubby were on vacation at (in?) Atlantis a couple of months ago, and they knew that I would have loved a nice, big emerald ring. The debate was, that I wanted an "un-oiled" stone, rather than a shiny, fake looking emerald that could pass for a green CZ. I used to sell fine jewellry and I know what I would rather have had. Anyway...they think I'm just a little weird to want a dull stone, but if you've ever seen a very fine un-oiled emerald you'd know why I prefer them.
Anyway!...they wandered into the jewellry store in Atlantis and looked at the emerald rings and secretly let out invisible gasps at the prices there!....so very casually, our Daughter asked the salesman...."So...all you have are oiled emeralds?"...yes, he answers, to which my darling DD, as only she can, smiles and sniffs, "Oh. Thank you, then."..and they left!! OMG, we had a good laugh at that one! It had nothing to do with the prices, lol...ohhhh nooooo...it's all because they were oiled!!!
Perhaps you had to be there, but oh, I wish I could have been a fly on the wall!!!Last edited by Lynn49; Mon, Dec 7th, 2015 at 11:41 PM.

Oh, learning about gems is so much fun, and working in a jewellry store was awesome, particularly helping guys with engagement ring selections...loved that! So yes...another snob here, too!
I'll never own the emerald ring I'd actually want, so I admire from a distance...if anyone here ever had one I'd admire...

On my list this year is a pick punch to make my own guitar picks ( I know my sister found this on amazon) (I'll be looking for trades with special used gift cards that would work great for this, keep me in mind if you have a used gift card with a pretty picture!!) and "hinted" to friends that I really need my own ice auger (with power) for ice fishing this winter..IF they wanted to spend together and buy something that I could really use

My Xmas wish list:
1. My mental block / anxiety issues go away and I learn to cope better in life dealing with the roller coaster ride it is much better.
2. My kids are happy and continue to find ways to be happy in life.
3. Peace on Earth.
4. The world ends commerce, patriotism, etc.
5. Criminals are punished more appropriately.
6. Sports becomes more enjoyable with referees finally doing their jobs properly and the leagues hand out proper suspensions to players to get rid of the garbage that is in sports.
7. Cheaters are not rewarded in sports or elsewhere in the world. Ex. Cheatriots should be out of the NFL.
8. Finally have it where when I attempt to make real life friends I actually get some this time around.

A new job. One that is part-time, has decent pay, predictable/consistent hours, one that is easier on my body, and that I genuinely enjoy doing.
A source of passive income on the side would be nice, too.
(These really do feel like "wishes", at the moment!)
