I can think of better ways to spend that fine money rather than what was probably a short thrill ride but to each their own.

Another month of not buying my lunch. Amazing how putting a goal out for all to see makes one so much more accountable. This has probably saved close to $800. 00

With an extra pay period this month, this was supposed to be a bonus paycheck but a really nasty stomach virus hit our house last week and put DH off for 4 days and since he's not paid for his sick days, the 'bonus' portion will be tiny. (I was off for 3 days as well, but I have sick pay.)

I'm going to focus on our meal plan this month and see if I can't get our monthly food costs down even more. We've made some good progress with meal planning, but there is still lots of room to improve, especially when it comes to popping to the store during the week for snacks. We also have a small garden planted, and I look forward to using those veggies in a few months time.

My splurge for June is my plane ticket to visit my mom this weekend. I could have saved $150 by driving.... but 10 hours in the vehicle each way, compared to a 1 hour flight was well worth the investment since I only have Thurs-Sun to visit.

I also maxed out my pension contributions, so my paycheck is a bit smaller now.
leaves more time to visit win win

    My 2016 goals are

    1. save up for powder room renovations so no debt, we have the tiles, the vanity

    2. put all of dh's pays to save up for vehicle maintenance to pay for the (body work/paint job, the springs, tune up) - DONE

    3. Start to price match again, I've slacked off the last year and use snap save/checkout 51 (no cell phones here)

    4. Get in the habit of taking meat of out of the freezer the night before so no boxed food (processed foods) which are expensive anyways

    5. Save up my pc points, sdm points, swag bucks etc and only redeem for Christmas gifts, this saved us $1200 for gifts/expenses in December which was such a blessing.

new goal as of February 2016

    6. Put dh's pays aside for home renovations - master bedroom & ds2's old room are being renovated in Early April

    7. Make purchases via swagbucks to earn swagbucks and save them for Christmas.

    UPDATED as of June Goals

    1. Continue to price match and use (trade for coupons) lots of freebies this month so far
    2. Continue to put dh's pays in the home renovation account (he will be off for July & August so there won't be any $ to put away those months) - saving up for the new powder room (plumbing, electrical, toilet & wall tiles)
    3. Continue to save PC points, sdm points, leger surveys, amazon codes for Christmas - we saved $1200 last year at Christmas time doing this
    4. Stockup on Men's hygene products with pming & using coupons

Lit was rather random math. I would buy lunch 3 times a week minimum so on average 30 to 50 bucks a week so I guesstimate to 180 a month.

Pushing forward $173.33 for groceries and $705.77 for Misc.!!!! Have a wallet full of change from our casino visit on Sat. so have been using that for groceries and will do so rest of week.
Don't have plans to buy much this week so should be a good week.

I'm not sure what we are doing wrong. With our debt it seems impossible to get ahead and save at all.

@wimbly don't get discouraged, can you go to some you trust and that won't judge to review and perhaps offer some suggestions as to re-work your #'s or have you approached a bank or something of that nature to get your interest rate lowered. I don't know your circumstances so it's hard to offer advice BUT I also find it hard to save up as something always breaks or needs to be replaced.

I find sometimes another set of eyes can offer so much help.

So happy we are 1/2 way through the month

I stocked up on men's shaving gel and will continue to stock up on Men's hygiene products as that is 1 of my goals for the month.
DH has been running errands & using coupons so that is another goal met for the month.
