So I am trying to be able to stay home with my daughter and not go back to work after my maternity leave ends and have always dreamed of having my own company. I have been putting together the pieces to start my own home based business for about 6 months and it is finally up and running as of today!
When i had my daughter 8 months ago I found it difficult to source good quality, cute cloth diapers for a decent price. There are many different brands out there ranging from $15-$30 per diaper which I thought was ridiculous to pay for something that is pooped and peed on, lol. I sourced a manufacturer and came to agreement with them to distribute their product accross Canada.
I am selling super cute yet affordable cloth diapers at www.sunbabydiapers.ca , all colors and patterns are $6.75 a diaper. I would really appreciate it if you would check it out and pass my site along to anyone across Canada who you think may be interested in cloth diapering.
I would also appreciate any comments on how you think I can best reach the edmonton and Canadian market as far as where to advertise and any promotions that you think would work for a small home based business. I wish I had the $ to give away a million diapers (like clearlycontacts) as i think that is phenominal marketing, but i just don't have that kind of start-up cash.
Thanks in advanceThis thread is currently associated with: ClearlyContacts.ca

Congrats Brigitte! Thats very exciting, I wish you all the best.
Something you might want to think of is down the road talking to groupon about getting a add on their site.
Something like buy 3 diapers get two free or something along those lines. I know groupon takes a hefty percentage, but the biggest thing right now is getting your business out there so people can spread the word!

Congratulations!
You should check out a group called Mommy Connections. They are classes for new moms to get together and socialize and also to learn about new baby products. You might be able to contact a director and advertise in a class or even stop by and tell the class about your diapers. The website is mommyconnections.ca

Congratulations on staring your new business - site looks nice. I didn't read everything but I think a very prominent link - first time moms - what you need to know?
Then tips:
like how many diapers to start out with
what detergents people like to use
myths and facts -- do cloth diapers leak more than disposable
how many trees you`ll save if you use cloth diapers for a year vs disposable
maybe the facts on what laundry costs and what disposables cost per month
Marketing
- mommy bloggers in the Edmonton area could be a real boost to you
- list them on your facebook page, write to them and say you`ve started out and shared links to their blogs on your facebook page; drop in and comment on some of their posts
- each mom who buys is a potential fan - recommender so make that super easy - include little cards with your diapers. If you can have a card like a coffee card that says buy12, get 1 free or something ... but do it in a cute way.
Can you create a starter diaper cake package with a bow etc. - buy for your friend - baby shower etc. People often make diaper cakes with disposables.
Good luck - hope it goes super well.
