so after hearing about all these great diapers deals at SDM, I decided to ask at mine. They told me they would be clearing them out on saturday, so I went first thing, and nothing. Then he told me Monday, so I went first thing, and nothing. Then they told me the manager was going to price them Monday night and they would be out Tuesday. So this morning, I called and there was one box of huggies at $7, so even though it was one box, it is only a 2 mins drive, I got both kids and we went... when we got there the wonderful cashier asked one of the other employees if they had any in the back... jackpot!!! they had tons. I ended up getting 11 boxes total (for myself and others) and there was still tons left. So I give her my BP wub $40 and 3000BP for buying pampers, whoop... but then... I give her my coupons for pampers. I had bought several cruisers and several swaddlers so I had about $24 in coupons.... then all of a sudden... the front store manager came running and yelled, "YOU CAN'T USE COUPONS ON THOSE! They are way under cost and you can't use coupons." I said, I have used coupons on clearance items before, and she again told me, I mean yelled at me, no you can't, that's my markdown and you can't. I was so taken back that I didn't use the coupons, even at $7 a box ($0.09/diaper) still a great price. When I got home and told my friend, she told me to call HO, so I did... and they just called me back... mnger admitted to not acting professionally and is going to honour my coupons. I just have to bring in the boxes again. So moral of the story... if you believe in something, make sure you act on it. I was scared at first, but am so happy I did. I now have 11 boxes of diapers for family and friends and after coupons and tax=$60!!!!!!!!
Thanks for reading my rant or brag, I think.
*****update: went to the store today to get coupons adjusted, manager acting appropriately, however, never apoligized and was quite annoyed that she had to return the items and then rebuy them back...really!!! oh well, it's done now and I got my great deal on diapers!Last edited by pamjcoupon; Wed, Nov 23rd, 2011 at 01:22 PM.

Great brag (in the end). I never understood why they say something is "too cheap" to use coupons with, it's like they don't realize they're going to get reinbursed or something, lol.

Good job! SDM in my area always has things for next to nothing on clearance, like tons of stuff for $1. I always use my coupons on them to get them for free. Never had any trouble where that's concerned. Even though I have a lot of issues with SDM, that hasn't been one of them!

Good for you!!! You would think they would give you the difference of the savings on a gift card for being a jerk to you. And then you can save your coupons for another deal... But if she is going to do the coupons then great. I hope she says sorry to you. Thats just ridiculous!

thanks everyone. I have to go tomorrow to get the bill adjusted with the coupons. I think it will be a bit awkward, we will see if she aplogizes or not. When I told her that I have bought other things on clearance with coupons her answer was I can't with the diapers because they were already below cost??? I don't get that logic. When I called HO and asked, the guy told me it was their policy to accept manufacture coupons on any item and he didn't understand why the mnger was being like that... he even asked, why did she do that??? Of course I answered... I have no idea!

That was a weird response on her part. It's logical to assume that most things that are on clearance are priced near or below cost, which reduces the profit margin for the company. However, if they were unable to sell the inventory (not reducing to clearance price), they would still be taking a loss.
It's as if managers don't realize that coupons are an acceptable form of payment - since they will be reimbursed by the manufacturer/coupon-issuer, coupons = money.
Great job on getting in touch with HO and so glad everything worked out. Keep your head high tomorrow!Last edited by Aimz; Wed, Nov 23rd, 2011 at 09:35 AM.
