Any thoughts on the "oscars too white" controversy this year?
Since i have not seen many of the movies I can't comment but in the past few years black actors have won. Methinks Jada Pinkett is just peeved over her DH not getting a nomination. Apparently he was not that great in the movie (from reviews).

Rock is calling it the white BET awards. I am ok with that.

I hope I can watch it uninterrupted on Sunday, but who knows what everyone else wants to do this w/e? I might PVR it although that is the worst way to watch the Oscar's as you usually already know who won.
About the All White thing, I dunno ...... I like and watch so many movies and there are so many gosh darn award shows to begin with, so boo hoo to actors who feel they have been slighted by not getting recognized for their craft. No one recognizes millions of everyday workers who do their jobs with passion. I would think their lives pretty darn comfortable as it is so count your gosh darn blessings instead of looking for a Pity party!
Now...about Will Smith, I watched his movie Focus on the Bell Movie Network and I did enjoy it very much but was it an Oscar worthy performance? meh?? I felt his mannerisms and the delivery of his lines was very similar to the character he played in the movie Hitch.

I agree with the above - black, white, purple, woman, man - those don't matter as it's the performances which should be recognized. In Will's case, well cry me a river - he ain't that good.
So bully for those why are boycotting, I don't care.
Just concerned about how Chris Rock will deal with it.
I found this from his monologue from hosting in 2005:
"We have, what, four black nominees tonight. So great, it's like the Def Oscar Jam tonight," is how Rock kicked off his monologue for the evening, celebrating the diverse list of acting nominees, which included – in addition to Freeman and Foxx – Don Cheadle for Best Actor and Sophie Okonedo for Best Supporting Actress. .."

I may not be able to keep the peepers open to watch it all but I'll try. ( I set the PVR to record as a safe guard ). Looking forward to the jokes mainly, I hope the ones giving their acceptance speeches just say thanks and keep their own ( Political, religious, personal ) beliefs and causes out of it.
My DH cracked me up when he said he thinks best actor SHOULD go to the one in The Reverence......THE BEAR!!! ha ha ( he is not that fond of leo, but I am!!)

Gah, one tv in the house, and even though the men allowed me to watch a bit of the red carpet, there's no way I'll be able to watch it all on tv. My son won't mind watching the opening with me, but then I'll have to switch to the desktop and find whatever coverage I can there.
So, who wore it better - Bob or Kevin?
