Yes, this does come up from time to time. I always put a coupon on each product and say, " This coupon is for this purchase, this coupon is for this purchase and the whole thing is a transaction so I am using one per purchase ". If they don't agree I ask for the manager long line or not. I then explain it to the manager. I know sometimes it is hard but I figure if I can explain how it works to one cashier at a time it will help others that follow me. I always say to anyone behind me waiting in line, " Thank you sooo much for your patience. I have a large family and saving this amount (I tell them what the amount I'm saving) has really helped me to feed them. 9 times out of 10 they smile . Hang in there and Keep trying

Wow !!! Amazing shop Cally. You did great

And on a funnier note one of my SIL's was making a family supper and mentioned she had to pick up bacon. I told her to swing by as I have some. She said , " Oh, You have extra, I can pick you up some bacon later in the week so your not short. No worries I said I'm set for bacon. I won't be short for quite sometime. LOL.....My freezer is just like yours Cally

I can't stop laughing.... I imagine many SCers were getting "looks" from their partners after this week's massive processed meat shops. Appreciated your share.

Sometimes I feel like I'm shopping with a 12yr old.....like I am punishing him, lol. But when he realized that all he had to pay was $.70 on his bill, he was quite happy! Than asked me for a loonie. LMAO!!! D'OH! Not to mention all the bacon and tomato sandwiches, beans and wieners w/bacon, bacon and eggs, perogies and bacon....etc etc etc that he gets to eat!

We are lacto-ovo-vegetarians, lol! (sorry for the pretentious description, some people really don't like it when I call myself a vegetarian because I eat eggs). Ironically, I received a 15x points coupon on Maple Leaf Bacon on my Shoppers Optimum card last week. I ignored it until I saw this thread. You guys would have really loved it! Free bacon and so many points. Completely wasted on us.

I don't even know anyone (vegetarian or non-vegetarian) in real life who goes out of their way to save money on groceries. It is too much work, they say I don't mind extra money to spend/save. That's why I love SmartCanucks

Funny you should mention people thinking it is too much work. My sister was visiting me from Montreal and I was telling her all about my coupons and bacon etc, I showed her my receipts, explained how much I saved and how many points I got back etc. So I said here are some coupons on your way back to Montreal stop at the Giant Tiger they had the ham on sale for $5.88..gave her coupons plus when you buy 3 get a free ready crisp. I called her to see how it went, she said she almost had a stroke!! The lady said you can't use coupons on sale items, it's only good for the ham in the picture, not all hams!! I gave her pepperettes coupons and deli meat coupons, again the lady said only what is shown on the picture, my sister said it said on any kind!! My sister asked to talk to the manager!! Blah, blah, blah..she finally got them but she said it wasn't worth the time and the high blood pressure for the savings!!I never laughed so hard!! Where I live not to many people coupon!!

Love this post. My DH put his foot down last week....I literally had to tetris-ize the kitchen and basement freezer. Had 6 packs I couldn't fit so he made me bring it to my parents to store in their basement freezer. Dad's eyes lit up so I'm pretty sure I'm never seeing that bacon again :p
