Yes but they took time and effort and gas money and planning. Volunteers don't always pay out of pocket either but they still are giving to others. Wether it costs out of pocket or not that still changed hundreds of lives, it made a huge difference. There is a couponer on the site that does the same thing making up baskets, working all year long to collect up enough stuff. I too strive to one day do the same thing.

I am happy to see that people who coupon and get free stuff out of it, give some away. I know not everyone is in a position to do that, but for those who are, I think it's a great thing. I have always believed that all these charities, food banks, etc, need a couponer on staff to get stuff they need.

The way I see it is, at least these two 'extreme couponers' took the time to get the free stuff and deliver the goods.....to me, its better than adding it to an already huge stock pile at home. Investing one's time to charity is just as important as $$$ in my opinion.

I actually thought Joni was cute and loved the fact that she is willing to share her stock pile to anyone who is in need of any of the items she has.

I love the show, but I hate when people buy 300 tubes of toothpaste. They expire eventually. Or when the 16 yr old who bought sanitary pads because they were free lol! Sadly to say many of the couponers bought a lot of junk food, and I just remember my dad coming into the room and saying "someone watching this is going to say she doesn't really need those chips.." But I love the show!lol

Why not to bother getting too much of one thing before my Mum liked Carnation lite hot chocolate boxes and didn't like Carnation marshmallow hot chocolate now she likes marshamallow hot chocolate and doesn't like lite hot chocolate.I buy 1 or 2 boxes at a time for her.Good thing she didn't have a huge stockpile like an extreme couponer. My Dad used to like Puritan canned stew now doesn't like it luckily at the time we had none and only ever had 1 to 4 cans of it at the time.So it doesn't pay to extreme coupon food or drink just in case you change what you like to eat or drink.

I still love the show. I enjoy watching people coupon. I like the "go shopping with me!" videos on YouTube, too. It's kind of nice to see different stores and watching what people get. I wish there were more of those in Canada but most Canadian stores don't let people video tape inside.

But I am not impressed with the, "I'm going to buy XXX worth of stuff for XXX!" and 70%+ of what they're buying is one item!
Missy's ("I got them from God!") latest episode said she was going to get $900 of stuff for $35. She got:
783 $1 Toothbrushes and Floss (87% of her total)
The other 13% was Taster's Choice, pricey paper towel, and maybe something else.
It does NOT take an "extreme couponer" to get 783 toothbrushes and floss for free. It just takes that many coupons.
Chris' latest episode said he was going to get $1700 worth of stuff for free. He got:
1200 $1 Lipton drinks (70% of total)
229 $1 Ragu (13% of total)
206 $1 Seasoning Packs (12% of total)
So that leaves 5% of his total for other purchases.
Really? 70% of his "oh my gosh so high" total is one item.
Yes, that's an impressive feat getting $600+ down to pennies, but ANYONE can get hundreds of one item for free if they have the right coupon for it! You are not "extreme" by getting more than 10 of the item. It's just not that impressive to me to see them getting maybe 3 - 4 items in a transaction for free...
I liked the one-off and the first season where they at least had many different items, including meat and vegetables (even if there was a lot of fraud that season).
That being said I will still watch this show because I like it.

Actually, the tubes of toothpaste that they normally get for free with coupons - the regular no-extra Colgate - does not expire! They have an expiry date because they have to, but they don't expire.
The things in toothpaste that expire are the "additions" into them, like the peroxide for whitening.
