my soups?

Lately the homemade soups I make apparently taste hot and spicy but not flavorful according to my girls.

I don't eat the soup myself due to food sensitivities so can't taste test.

An ingredient has gone off or maybe the seasonings have lost their peak flavour? Also, the girls might have a preference for non-hot or spicy dishes? Everyone's taste preferences vary. I'm not one for hot or spicy or sour flavours-definitely not Buffalo Wings (vinegar and blue cheese will chase me away).

And since I'm having the *joy* (sarcasm) of perimenopause (maybe there's future book material), hormonal fluctuations could be playing with tastes? Your girls are a generation younger than me so maybe that could be it. I've had two days where brain and tongue were on Carb Quests-the sweeter the better-then my body dropped the quests and the pressure was off. It's like body was under mind control with no detour options.

I think the spices are off probably. Still have a kick from the heat factor but have lost their actual flavour.
