Tomorrow is a good day because I get a bonus once a year and its tomorrow, the money will sit in an account waiting for any overage on the kitchen. All of the kitchen renovations so far are paid for including appliances. We had to put a lot down on the cabinetry and all other funds have been moved into a Tangerine account as the rest will start leaving the account at the end of May so I can earn a bit of interest. Can't wait to start but almost not excited about the mess.
Once this is done we will save to fund this years TFSAs.

With me going on Mat leave in July and DH loosing his job the end of June, our financial goals are shifting drastically. If he doesn't find anything before then he will be on EI. There is a good chance he won't have a fulltime job by then and will doing freelance (oh how I hate the uncertainty). So-I know that EI can take a while to show up sometimes, so we need to have money saved and put away for mortgage, bills, etc so we do not have to use the LOC to pay anything. We also need some baby items for the new addition so I am trying to find what we need second hand (thankfully a lot will be passed down from our first).

Feeling very stressed and worried about money. Ha-what's new?!?

Sounds like everyone is on their financial paths, great job all.

I don't know if anyone on here follows financial blogs but I follow 2 very often and what I've come to the conclusion is and yes everyone is in charge of their goals and their limits but heck, I could put tons a cash away into savings/TFSA and others if I was

    1. Willing to eat oatmeal everyday, soups & sandwiches, potatoes for super and no meat. (not meaning to offend anyone).
    2. I know we all try and save where we can but I can't understand when they are basically public figures that they will post pictures of xxxx in jeans that are way too large with a belt that couldn't be any tighter but the jeans are all gathered because they don't fit. I actually am finding 1 blog in particular almost like child abuse if you will. So I think going forward I will avoid this blog as yes it's great that the grocery budget is tiny.

Does anyone else shake their heads at the limits bloggers go to in which to save $

    Thoughts!!!

I could eat oatmeal daily lol. I just forget to make it the night before but I am going to get back at my Sunday night prep for the week.

Potatoes for dinner every day? No way. They will kill ya. ( I try to limit how often we eat potatoes) We love food and eat well/fancy often. Just somedays I would like a simple meal. (my man is a big meat eater so he would never agree to that anyway)

I redeemed $50 in PC pts on Thursday. (I will be getting close to $60 in PC PTS for a work purchase I am making today so it was a little treat for us lol)

For May- I am going to really try and not spend on anything but necessities. House projects need to be focused on.

My man would like to join friends on a trip to Vegas in the Fall. It is not my 1st choice (been twice already) and I was wanting to go somewhere hot-Thinking Dominican (we still can but will push it to March/April 2018) I have enough in my US account fo spending money which is nice. Thinking I will start putting extra on my credit card to create a large credit to pay for the trip. That is my silly fun goal now

Payday is Friday so cleaned up the budget/bank account. My chq account is at $0. I moved every penny out into savings. I usually keep money in there but not going to bother anymore. I only have one payment that comes out automatically and I use my credit card for everything (pay it off always).

I have tons of change still from casino 2 weeks ago (over $200 worth) Will keep $100 in loonies and quarters for garage sale float and will use the rest to spend on groceries the next 2 weeks since I hope/plan to only buy fresh stuff as needed as I want to work on really cleaning out the freezer/cupboard.

I have over a $100 credit on my Hydro bill. All my credit cards are paid in full. (small credit on one). Have a bunch of Visa Gift cards to use up (From work for gifts etc) A Cineplex movie pass for 2 with drinks and popcorn to use up (want to take DS to movie this week I hope) Ready for a "not spend much May"

Just transferred dh's last weeks pay into 1 of the 2 accounts which we borrowed from to purchase a new to us car.

My grocery shops for the next 4 weeks will be focused on stocking the meat supplies in the freezer, I have budgeted $10 a day for 31 day = $310 for meat replenish, we've already stocked up on lean ground beef $60, $30 chicken drumsticks and need to tally the pork side ribs as dh needs to do a return today as he bought something for lunch snacks which the kids won't eat.

Wishing everyone great success in the coming month with their financial resolutions

End of the month. Groceries back under control this month at $473.83

J&C - I have a few frugal blogs that I love, but they focus more on saving money by being mindful with purchases and buying items that last vs being extra cheap. I avoid some of those extreme blogs. LOL I'd much rather only own one pair of jeans that fit perfectly (and sometimes they are thrift store jeans so really not that expensive) than four or five pairs that don't fit well.

I would love to know what your fave blogs are. I am always looking for new ones to add to my reading. My fave and the one I never miss is The Non Consumer Advocate.

J&C: I have several that I follow and some I sort of come on hi with because their values don't align with mine. Although I would happily eat oatmeal everyday for breakfast.
