Further discussion of our points missing can resume in this thread. The other thread was locked due to a surplus of unfriendly trolly people.

I agree & don't hold SC liable....
But SDM needs to explain how some our our accounts were changed (name, addy etc) & also if these points were used by someone....SDM also told me that I had done TOO MANY transfers since 2009/2010...OK when did this happen & where does it state that???
I've done the TAF events on SC & also done my own groups for friends & family so naturally transfers took place!!
SDM encourages transfers on one hand but then turns around & says oh you did too many!! WTH!! kind of answer is that???SuperPoints! Join up! https://www.superpoints.com/join/vM_...vT88H3WJziuiqM

I would respectfully suggest that the Tell-A-Friend event that has been conducted via the SC website in past years be discontinued. Although it was a friendly attempt to help each other out in our community it is too fraught with potential problems to be viable in the future.

^ That's why I think SDM is partly responsible for this mess. Anyway, I think anyone who had points transferred whether by trade or RAOK should get a new card.

From what I have seen on this forum, there is a lot of Shoppers Optimum points trading going on, the forum facilitates this. Yes it is against the T&C of the Optimum Program to trade with anyone other than friends and family, and is that not what people are doing on there?
I feel bad for the people who lost their points of course, I know how long it takes to collect them, and they mean a lot of many families. I hope it gets sorted out, good luck to all those involved.

As for the TAF events, I hadn't even heard of these until today and read up on it here. I don't know anything more than what I've read here, so I ask this in all seriousness... is the transferring of points during a TAF a part of normal, everday TAF activity? I understand why the groups were set up on here, to maximize the points. After reading the FAQs and Tutorial, I understand it's still the same number of points being shared around, but can it also be viewed by SDM as 11 people spread over a wide geographical area sharing Optimum numbers? Also, could this also be viewed as trading for a service? A leader is trading points received in the TAF event in exchange for people obtaining points?
I don't know much about the event, so may be speaking out of turn, but just thought I'd throw these ideas out there. No harm, no foul, just discussion

My point in suggesting the discontinuation of the TAF event is related to the fact that those who participate are giving their Optimum number out to a stranger. If you think about it, "DianneS" could be a 50 year old male in a federal institution (which I'm not!) but you get my drift. It is unfortunate that although 99% of people are trustworthy there is that 1% who, unfortunately, may not be.

Tell A Friend Events. If you refer up to 10 people, who then go and spend a minimum amt (like $20) they get Bonus Points (5000?) and you get Bonus Points for each one of them you refer to the event who spends the minimum.

This experience has brought to light for many, if not all Optimum members - the ease by which access can be gained to their personal information on the SDM website.
For the purpose of this statement I'm referring strictly to those who have had their points go missing from their accounts and whom has never shared their account number with anyone.
I feel this remains an issue, however that would be between SDM and it's members not SC.Last edited by Carrla; Wed, Dec 7th, 2011 at 10:15 PM. Reason: Because my sentence structure was way off
