However, I did mention fear of ostracization might prevent the message from being sent in the first place. I, too, would be angry if the kid (and maybe parents) acted irresponsibly, but I think that dealing with the situation at hand might be more helpful than pointing out the poor decision-making that led to it.
Besides, the contacts within the kid's/family's list of contacts will probably have much more powerful words and effective responses than anyone outside of their social media circle of friends could ever deliver. :)
