Yesterday morning we hit the gym early and it was awesome. It was not busy and the only ones there were the “silver sneakers gang” aka the seniors. Love see that! Guess they were brave enough to venture out in the heavy wind and rain storm we had.

I had a great strength session and was able to lift my usual heavy for more reps so YAY .

Always good to hear that you are adding strength with heavy weights. I had my annual physical and asked my doc if I should be concerned about bone density, because my mother had suffered from osteo-arthritis and osteoporosis. He told me with the amount of walking I did along with the heavy loads I carried, I would be the last person to ever worry about bone density. Walking is supposed to help pack/tamp down the bones and make them stronger. So, good for you to keep up the bone 'health'.

Phew! What a gym session today.

It was supposed to be just upper body with my lower stretching but I ended up adding Roman chair raises barbell bench presses, full body (assisted) pull-ups, assisted dips all after my usual workout. I’m dead. Just call me T. rex from now on .

I'm really proud of myself since I’ve been dying to use the weight rack and other equipment but I’m still so self conscious when the gyms full so Dh encouraged me and the gym wasn’t as busy.

Tomorrow is a “rest day” which means only cardio, stretching and my calf strengthening that I do daily.

@harbie .... Roman chair raises barbell bench presses, full body (assisted) pull-ups, assisted dips...... is this a new language you're studying? lol.
Wow, what a step up from what you had been doing. I finally Googled videos to see what each of them were, they look very rewarding , the stretch that you
get from that Roman Chair Raise one seems cool.
Carry on and enjoy the rest day now.

Ha the stretch is good @walkonby but the work is tough!

5.5km hill intervals with my weighted vest, usual stretching and some bent knee Roman chair raises WITH my weighted vest . Those were tough!

Got hubby out walking this afternoon He felt so much better getting out in fresh air for a change.

We just rec'd our fitness challenge for week 6
    Exercise
    Intentional meals (i.e. planning them)
Ensuring we get enough protein in our meals

    Have a good fitness week!

    Great weekly goals @crafter

I didn’t get to the gym yesterday because I got a mild case of vertigo . Yuck! I have so much cleaning to catch up on and decided to do some of that slowly instead.

Today's plan is to hit the gym before noon for my 5km hills and then depending on how I feel after my flu shot this afternoon I’d like to hit the gym for strength training but not sure if I should do upper body or not . Time will tell

I haven’t been in this thread in years. It’s good to read how others are doing.

My weight slowly crept up on me and I’m now working on losing some pounds and inches. My weight has been lower over the years. I weigh almost 10lbs more than I did when I married Dh, straight out of university. My weight isn’t crazy high, but I endeavour to get healthier again.

Good for you @Angela273 for staying on top of things..my weight has really crept up over the past 5 years.

I had a good "re-set" this morning..I injured my ribs a week ago buying more than I planned at Walmart and trying to carry it all in one basket...I'm an idiot as I have an old injury...anyways, I started this morning with a 1k walk, played throw with my dog in the basement and then went on the recumbent exercise bike for 15 mins. I always forget how nice it is to stream my fitness app and cycle along. (youtube works just fine too)

Love seeing posts here to start my day
@crafter hope your injury is healing.

10lbs from when you got married @Angela273 is great!

So after our flu shot we walked straight to the gym. We kept it to 30min of upper body work and it was fine. I’d also done a 6 km weighted vest hill walk around noon so I was good. Did 1 more Roman chair lift than the time before ( trying to add 1 more rep each time), bench presses on the smith machine, rows, etc.

Unfortunately my mild vertigo returned on Saturday morning so I literally did nothing. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Man that was hard to not do anything.

Sunday I felt better so after a slow morning, the mall and grocery shopping we went for an outdoor vest walk.

Today we’re off to the dentist and trying to get a gym visit in before we leave but might wait until after.

Hope your visit to the dentist went well @harbie . Thanks yes my rib is slowly improving . Just a shorter walk here today but I was cleaning before I had a uke group here so that counts. Looking forward to cycling again tomorrow...Have a nice evening!

I have been using an app called Cashwalk for nearly 2yrs. I cash out for 1-2 $5 Amazon.ca gift cards each month. You earn more coins the more you walk. It also counts the “steps” if my phone is in my pocket while riding a bike. It’s nice to earn gift cards for staying active, bonuses for opening chests and letting a commercial run.
If anyone is interested in the Cashwalk app, my referral code is JH6S6.

I’ve been trying to use our stationary bike more regularly. I’m currently doing about 15min each time. We also have free weights, which I’m learning more safe exercises to do with those. We adopted a 10 month old kitten in July. The other day he was walking circles around my legs while I was trying to use the weights. He was trying to distract me.

It is snowing today, so I’ll shovel snow with our kids after school today.

I love to bake and have a chocolate sweet tooth. I’ve been trying out different healthier and higher protein recipes. Our kids really love the chickpea muffins, but I’ve never been a fan of muffins. What are some of your go to recipes?
