Thread: Price Matching?
-

I see that Food Basics are doing utility turkeys at 77c per lb, and was going to get one, but then I saw that my nearest FB is 30 mins. drive away. So, my question is, as we do not know what brand etc. the turkey is, can we still price match it at No Frills? And, if so, how? Thanks

You should be able to price match at No Frills simply by showing the cashier the flyer when checking out.
Since it only says "frozen utility turkey," you should be able to find the same thing at NF, regardless of brand, and price match. They give a hard time if the brands don't match but in this case, there is no brand specified.
I am not sure of No Frills price match limits. Freshco limits 3, and my WM limits 6, so maybe that can be used as a relative guideline?

They will match any of their local competitors flyers. You just need to bring in the flyer and request for them to match.
For Utilituy turkeys brand does not matter.

Honestly, I think WM's limits only apply to the location I usually go to. Everyone else always says that their location has no limits. This WM actually used to limit to 4, but recently raised it to 6 (my email to HQ may have had something to do with it).
Happy price-matching! That is a great turkey deal.

my walmart has never given me limits. and i usually price match at least half of my grocery cart full. i think they are simply used to seeing me there. flyers in one hand, a fistfull of coupons in the other. both kids usually in tow. they dont give me hassles.
Feel free to use my shop.ca referral link! Tons of products and great deals! http://www.shop.ca?plcktb=ZwVwXmoC0

Oh yeah, I'm there on a weekly basis like clockwork, and I too PM the majority of my items. But they don't make exceptions nor hassle anyone; it's just their policy. The manager was actually who I talked to; she said people often clear shelves when other stores have events such as "Dollar Days" and she said that's not fair to other customers who want to get in on the deal. I can understand her view and respect it. It doesn't stop anyone from doing multiple transactions or coming in every day, but that's just their policy. I think WM managers have a certain amount of autonomy.
So yeah, it's not about imposing limits on me in particular nor is it a matter of being more lenient on regular customers.Last edited by Aimz; Fri, Dec 9th, 2011 at 11:26 AM.

Where is an official copy of No Frills PM policy? I recall you can also price match by showing them a receipt at a competitor that is bought within 7 days. Is that correct? That means I can price match an item I bought last week at No Frills?

ok, rather than start a new thread I will resurrect this one OR highjack it whichever OP prefers, lol.
So I saw the Metro skinless, boneless chicken breasts on sale at $3.99 /lb this week
( I have paid less, but I needed the breasts ) and I thought I would see if No Frills had theirs any cheaper, if not I had the Metro flyer to pm anyways.
So NF was actually more, that surprised me, but when I took the 2 pkgs to the cashier, she said " oh, I have to call the meat dept and they have to re-weigh and place a whole new sticker on the package"
Really I ask, because WalMart just scans, and then enters the new lower PM'd per kg price amount and the new price comes up.
Nope, it is not done like that, so she calls...I wait....she calls 2 more times....I smile and wait ( all part of my new " kindler, gentler attitude " that I am trying to have when dealing with cashiers) Tap, tap, tap...be still my foot.
So then the manager comes over and I ask for clarification on this, she confirms, their cash registers have " NO WAY " of figuring out this complicated PM I am presenting them with, so I continue to wait. I smile and thank her saying I will know for next time.
Finally, meat gal comes, collects the 2 pkgs, runs them back to adjust them.
Now DH is standing ever so patiently "glaring" at me saying with his eyes " what is taking so long? " I get him up to speed, he goes " so are they gonna kick them around back there on the floor before they bring them back out?" Good grief what paranoia eh?
She eventually returns and says..." we cannot PM these breasts because Metro ones say filet removed." ( it was in the fine print, just below the price ) and theirs
( NF ) are not so it is a better cut of meat " Oh my! Beaten at my own game ( price matching is my favourite game ) all because I did not notice that filet removed line.Learn something new all the time.Yes I had to then drive to Metro, DH was thrilled!!Last edited by walkonby; Wed, Jan 11th, 2012 at 08:38 AM.

Our WM made me hunt for a non-existent worker in the meat department, making me stalk the "employee only" door for 20 minutes. I was supposed to get a new sticker for my re-weighed meat. The employee then disappeared for a half hour leaving me to stare at a stack of Ziploc containers, which I had no interest in buying, for the next half hour.
And I haven't PMed meat ever since....

That is quite surprising as WM has always been awesome for pm-ing meat. I was stunned at how accepting and competent the cashiers are. The ones I have had needed no assistance just punched in the new price. Sad for you sweet sparrow, maybe it has improved by now at the location you were at since you last did it.
