Kenmore Heavy Duty (10 years going strong)....but now that Sears is gone, not sure what brand I would choose when my washing machine's time comes.

OP, are you looking for top-load or front-load machine suggestions?
For the Sears warranty holders, there was this item in today's Business section of the Toronto Star about warranties:

Have a 21 yr old GE top load washer likely in need of replacement soon. Super heavy-duty model (it was made in Canada). Sounds like the bearings are going bad sometimes during spin cycles and the control panel has been replaced twice, the original pump was replaced by a near similar other brand pump and the hose clips have been replaced about three times. Rust issues around the lid and ongoing issues of mystery lint/brown sludge from upper drum keep me vigilant about checking the loads for stuff to shake or to remove before hanging or using the dryer. I would not know about labour costs as sibling did the bigger parts fixes after he or I obtained the needed parts.Last edited by Ciel; Mon, Jan 29th, 2018 at 03:59 PM.
