So I went out with one of my DD's today, we were driving to Canadian Tire to grab the great deal on Garbabe bags, a 40 pack of the large black bags for $1.84 We each got 6 so we're good for a while, ANYWAYS...she tells me that her dh found out his bff's wife was laid off after just returning to work (she was on maturnity leave) and things are so tight they have been going to the food bank for over a month...
...I almost cried. So we each put in $60 and off we went to see what we could get. We also had a bunch of FPC's for oasis juice boxes, kashi bars, cheese and such that we used. We hit NF, SW and LD, we ended up with fresh meat and veggies and a ton of stuff for snacks for the 6 year old (he's in kindergarten with my grandson), diapers for the baby and a lot of other food and health and beauty products. We dropped off about 13 bags of food along with 2 big pkgs of tp, pt and kleenex. They were speechless, and we didn't stick around, we just said have a great day and left. We got back out to my vehicle and my daughter started crying
...she felt so great that we were able to do this for them. Again, my heart felt good.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.Last edited by hollyquaiscer; Sat, Nov 26th, 2011 at 10:44 PM.

If my children haven't learned this lesson by now, it's definetly to late to teach then, the youngest is 23, LOL. Out of 5 dd's, 4 are married with their own families and the youngest is engaged, but I do agree with you and our family had been doing many many donations over the years. We all need a little sunshine every now and then

I had something like this happen to me a while ago. I had my family's name drawn for a xmas hamper by one of our big insurance company's and when they dropped off the hamper I hugged both the guys and started crying. I got 13 boxes of stuff, plus the turkey and the kids presents (clothes for both and some toys too.) My husband and I also got presents, as well as some baking sheets for the kitchen. I've never forgotten it and I will always appreciate it.

I was in line today at Walmart and the woman in front of me was buying lots of chemicals. When the cashier was done, I handed him a bundle of coupons good for all her chemicals (saved her about $12). She thanked me and walked out with a smile!

Good morning all and Happy New years to all. I hope everyone enjoyed there holiday season. I am posting a few of the pic's from our huge donation of 117 hampers, baskets and bags over christmas. We were requested not to take pictures while unloading our donations due to privacy issues which I totally understand. I have instead poste a card received last week from the womens shelter. I hope everyone has a fabulous day and is kind to others this year.

This last picture is of the people in the family that helped with the donation this year. 2 people missing, 1 SIL that took the picture, and 1 SIL who has been very ill for the last 2 weeks.
Remember all to share your good fortune with those around you and please be kind to others here on SC and help out where you can.We all need a little sunshine every now and then

I love this thread, holly!!
I always carry my coupon book in my purse so I have left mystery coupons near products they could be used for. Not as giving as putting together hampers but its a start. There are a lot of people who don't have access to the Internet and often miss good ways to save money. Makes me feel good
