By the time August rolls around our twins will be 4! I still remember announcing my twin pregnancy on SC. It feels like a very long time ago.
Back to school specials and supplies. :)
Yep bought 12 already lol.went with father lol @Ciel : thanks for starting the august thread!!! :) Still need to buy a Watche and a few others things..Wow...where did the summer goes.Feel pretty stressed with the test I have to pass and starting to think about school subscription..oh my!!! ...
@cath007 Try the thrift stores for watches and just change the watch battery. I am still loving my $5.99 leather-like watch find at Value Village two weeks later.
Let's see if I can get through the rest of the hot month of July and revive in August!
ok.. August goals and plans.
1 or 2 things with my kids. this will actually be a bit tough... 1 is going to a cottage for a week, 1 is going to montreal for pride. we have trips to oakville to bring child and stuff to new apartment.
give me a moment... going to have a bit of a cry... so proud of them.. but totally not ready for them to go back to school. sigh
ok. keep a eye on the pantry. and freezer it is in pretty good shape. but ... a few good sales will fill it out nicely.
money wise.. we are chrunching down on bills ad tightening up the budget. a few thing need to get paid off. this will be a long term thing. as i would also like to start saving for new windows..
August goal. Have more martinis. ;)
@giese ledta -is there a window supplier offering a promotion for you to pay next year if you get new windows or doors this year? I had such an offer this year from Centennial Windows. Might be worth a look at their windows to see if something suits your needs.
It's Festival of Friends weekend in Hamilton, for the music fans in Gage Park. There's a nearby restaurant on King St E that serves First Nations food near the Delta, if you'd like to try something new for lunch. HSR posted something about enhanced service on the 1-King route:

@coupon girl -did you know that the Capital One credit hack could affect Costco Mastercard and HBC Mastercard holders? I have to tell my mother. I heard last night on the Radio-Canada evening news about the affected cards. I thought the hack might be limited to Capital One Visa cards. I also printed off a Global News article to show Mom. Might be a good idea to check your card account with HBC to see if it was affected. I have to ask Mom to do the same with her card.
Speaking of the Bay-next Tuesday, August 6 is Senior's Day. I was leafing through the new flyer and noticed a Jockey underwear (women's & men's) deal for next Thursday August 8.

i will cry this afternoon. sigh.
hubby is off tomorrow. he has paperwork to get done. :) and take middle to see his place in oakville.
Good morning! It was quiet on my short drive to work. People must have headed out early for the long weekend and skipped work today!
I went to SDM last night and bought 14 more bottles of shampoo (11 for boys 3 for me :)) We are stocked up on shampoo/conditioner now for at least 2 years. I am not allowed to buy more unless it is a money maker!
Good thing I brought the gas can to the station when I filled up. I needed to put about $7 in the can or I wouldn't have been able to hit the $40 mark. Nice to have a full tank of gas since I have been just putting in the needed amount all month. Especially before the long weekend...I was worried that they would have had the price jacked last night when I went but they didn't! Received the bonus PC PTs with no inquiry which is nice.
Laundry is still on the go but I am getting there! Will get on it as soon as I get home to get more done and put away. Will take up more new dishes from the box in the basement and wash and put away in cupboard. Then it is one more thing out of the basement. My garbage bag is filing up slowly and I am seeing more space :)
Have a wonderful day everyone!

I am really trying to focus on not wasting in the kitchen too. I am going to start really planning the meals with what we have on hand and making sure to freeze stuff before it goes bad etc. I noticed I have cooked chicken in the freezer so am planning to thaw it soon and make DS chicken fried rice. Same with bread.. we have a loaf on the go and 3 packages of English muffins in the fridge. I won't buy more till we use this up. I tossed a dozen eggs the other day because it was way past the expiry date. I need to get back in the habit of frying up eggs so the kids can make quick egg mcmuffins. Same with milk. Mostly its is friends over eating cereal so we don't use it much. I need to watch the expiry date and make homemade mac and cheese to use it up. So that is my focus the next while to get back into the frame of mind.
Over a week ago I took my youngest out for lunch. Wanted quality time so lunch it was. We went to a local beach Grill and bar. Our lunch cost almost $50. We split a ceaser salad and each had a chicken sandwich/burger with fries. It was good. And part of our summer fun so wasn't worried about the money but still OMG! Later that day was when I found steak at $2.50 LB and bought $40 worth. We will get so many amazing meals from it for less then lunch for 2. Going out to eat is crazy now! (that's why we enjoy our free meals at the casino since we don't usually dine out otherwise)
And I am going to work really hard to make sure DS has a made from home lunch. I really slacked last year giving him money basically every single day. It was just easier. We have a plan this year!
And I cleaned out my purse/wallet and coupons today. Have my old system ready to use. Small reuseable bag to hold my coupons, shopping list and flyers for the week. All together.
Toss crap from my wallet and organized cash etc.

We are under a heat advisory until Sunday. It’s currently 26, feels like 34 and it’s only noon. We spent some time in the back yard this morning with sunscreen, hats, bug spray, water bottles, smoothie popsicles, and the water table to play in. We’ll spend the rest of the day indoors with AC on. The mosquitoes are still really bad, I ultimately wore a jean jacket and jeans along with bug spray while I picked our yellow beans. I had nearly a gallon bucket full. Changed back into summer clothes as soon as I was out of that garden patch. I obviously watered the garden while we were out there. We also ate the few garden peas that we found.
I’m completing the hands on portion of my First Aid, CPR, AED course Wgen Dh gets home from work. I don’t think that their temporary location has AC. This might be a very hot evening... at least it’ll be done.
edit: My thumbs/fingers are quite sore from picking those beans. I picked them with my bare hands. Apparently I might need to wear my gloves next time. This was my first harvest with variety.
ceil -yes when i returned a few items to the bay thursday i asked and she gave me a slip to call and ask questions -capital one will be noifying people affected
I am watching my account everyday I check to see if its just my activity ,so on top of this its unfortunate
