Wow, I am not sure how we all missed it. I guess we are so used to @Ciel setting us up for success.
Happy New Year everyone. I can’t wait to see our frugal wins this year.

Thanks @lilo0003 for starting this thread. Happy New Year to you and your loved ones. I am hoping that I can be saving a little more so hoping to be very frugal. My freezer is full so might not be buying meat and seafood for a while. Just fresh fruit and vegetables
happy new year everyone
thank lilo for starting this thread
Last night went to son-in-law's brother's house and i gave him a bag of pickards and cherry blossom chocolate bar (boy they are so smaller than they use to be) I didn't say happy birthday or happy new year as it wasn't appropriate.I took a bottle of wine for the hosts also we stayed from 8 till 11.00.
Last night we had five guys (free from xmas giftcard from daughter/her family)the place was packed
On the way home got gas as it was 111.00 and I told hubby that's cheap lately, then decided to buy 10.00 in scratch tickets a few various ones spent 10.00 won 20.00 so ahead 10.00 which I will not spend on more tickets ,so that made my new year as we very rarely buy scratch tickets or gamble period (my dear older brother 72 that needs extra money now for all his health problems was a gambler ,he always told us years ago I won but younger brother and I would say how much did you spend .Well found out he never paid his taxes on his house for years.lost maybe upwards of 50-60,000 in his lifetime of gambling -sad )
my totals savings for the year
refunds $15.00
coupons $366.77
caddle/checkout51 $238.49
ebates 70.04
P.C points, canadian tire ,stuff sold ,scop ,beer returns etc $1,522.94

Pretty happy with that ,as there is only 2 of us in this household and I now for a fact I am still living off my stockpile (health and beauty and cleaning supplies I haven't spent much this year)
manufacturer cpns usage was down from 2018 by a few hundred (maybe cause I am buying less and cant find the really good cpns)but thanks to those in this group who sent me some this year -much appreciated
I was up 30 dollars in caddle and checkout51 from last year
down by a lot in the p.c ,Canadian tire etc categorie but again I am happy I made an extra 2,000
Happy New Year!
The fridge needs a good cleaning today.
I bought romaine, onions, peppers, clementines, yesterday. Will compliment a few meals I'm planning and help with using up stuff.
I am on a spending freeze! Groceries only and only fresh stuff. We need to use up stuff.

I don"t track what we save each year but we do track what we earn/spend each year. Yesterday I analyzed my DH's meticulous record keeping and reviewed our spending, net worth etc. It seems that with our day to day low spending( and some splurges on holidays) we are still able to keep our expenses below our income and add to our savings so that is worth celebrating on New Years Day. It certainly helps that we only have one child to help with post secondary expenses. DD flies back from NYC today so we look forward to a few more days with her before she heads back to uni. Happy New Year to all.
good morning all.
ok... i am going to spend a bit of time today and really write out some goals for the next year, 3, 6, 9 months. and do partof the twitter challange ... List your core values.
i am also planning on taking the dogs for a walk... and jut relaxing today. maybe 30 min of daycare planning to make the next 2 days easier.
todays frugal activity....
ordered the chapmans coupon.
I am going to do a low spend month, so using what we have on hand. Ignoring sales and no stocking up. We had a good year for saving. Some things are down like Checkout 51 but others are up like Canadian Tire points. With the things I count we are at 4500.00 savings this year. This includes rebate apps, PCO ( always the biggest amount), air Miles, cineplex and Dominos, Swagbucks as well as the Costco rebate. I am also carrying in 170.00 in Air Miles and $200 in PCO so that will help keep groceries low. Later today I will set up the 2020 savings tracker and budget and review 2019. I have the money ready to send to our TFSA and will do that Monday when the advisor is back in the office. I just did my coupon purge, but yesterday had luck find new coupons at Metro so it was nice to have something to add.
Happy New Year all.
A happy frugal New Year to all!
We had a nice breakfast at the in laws this morning ( quiche and fruit etc) and are heading back for a full Turkey dinner tonight! So no cooking today or $$ spent. Good start to the new year!.
I cleaned out the fridge this morning and put a load in washer this afternoon. I've been napping since we were up past 3 am last night so a lazy day for sure.
Don't forget to save your PCoffers!
Same! Hubby has been off work for 3 months (due to medical). He isn't EI eligible due to a job change just prior to his health condition. He quit his "new" job. Another is in the works but will take time to develop. We are celebrating not adding to our debt and living on one income. We look forward to health and new opportunities in 2020!
Good earlier evening everyone!!!! :) Happy New Year!!! :) I really have to be frugal and keep track of my expenses in 2020.....
Had an awesome lunch at my father aunt house. They are good people not judging. We had fun.I am so still full hahhaha...I brought a Christmas log.We had rosbif with gravy and mashed patatoes, shrimps and cocktail sauce, dip and vegetables, fresh bread,2 types of salads,4 varieties of cheeses and grapes, sugar pie and coffee..after that we had chocolates, nuts and coffee
Wishing everyone an awesome evening and night!!! :) Where the hollidays did goes only 4 days left before returning to school...I am stressed to have a new schedule...:( :( :(
Wrothe to my fb a happy new year to my ''friends'' and wrothe a e-mail to my mother brother (my uncle) to wish him happy new year too
Last month was a non frugal month due to Christmas and birthdays.
This month seems looming as I over spent out of my means. And my debt management program will be coming out of my GST.
I am doing laundry...I have 12 credits left on my card. That’ll have to last me until next month.

My birthday is in 2 weeks...wow cannot believe I will have 35 years old..I am old lol
I cannot order my chapmans coupon...the system dont recognize my adress...so frustrating
Just printed 19 pictures out on the Walmart website-I want to have photo memories of my grandkids (mind you I am selecting a few good ones over the years ,plus the grown kids may want a few ,so 45 pictures are coming soon
I wish I could do the bundle of 100 as its a tiny bit cheaper but my old desk top freezes around 25 pictures and when I go to refresh the page I have lost every picture ,then I have to start all over again -cant wait to get them
I really need groceries but I have to watch Ashlyn on Thursday as she is still off school and they are finding people who want to watch her (I get her tomorrow) still plan to go to seniors day at shoppers then son will pick her up on his way home from work at 4.45.
Yesterday I cashed out both rebate apps. Let’s see when they arrive. My Tylenol (CO51) and Quaker (Caddle) receipts were approved. I also did a couple more Caddle surveys before cashing out just now.
CO51$31.10
Caddle $40.22
The offers refreshed last night and Caddle has the Quaker offers again. I plan on going shopping today to take advantage of them again.
Morning went to pick up Ashlyn at 7.00 a.m -we painted and played with playdoh already ,hubby just took her to the school playground across the street
I will take her to McDonalds (for a treat)and I will use a coupon for me
Angela I hope to take advantage of the quaker caddle offer and the Scotties Kleenex one also -maybe I can run into fortinos with Ashlyn to get a few items as they sent me an offer spend 30.00 get 3,000 points
Happy New Year to all! New Year, new chance at 20/20 vision, fresh outlooks! Thanks @lilo0003 for new thread!
Watched more TVO programming on New Year's Eve, then Mom wanted to see NYE celebrations so we watched some of Rick Mercer's 11pm show and some of the Dick Clark Rocking New Year's Eve Show (yes, Times Square made an impact on Mom). Sibling went to a family wedding. Have noticed some photos online!
Yesterday Mom wrote some cards (and I made sure to get them into a mailbox before 9am today). I got partially into reviewing 2019 numbers and I have gone online to see what the #MoneyMasterClass Twitter crowd have done to date in January. Good hard questions so far there. Yes, I really did spend $310 on pop last year!
One interesting thought that won't be frugal if I do this-get paint for the main bathroom. It's time for a fresh colour and likely a new shower curtain. Mom seems on-board and sibling is away for three days so I could swing the deed. Just need to figure out do I get by on one quart or spring for the pail (but I'd like a trim can of paint in white for the room plus anything left over I could use on my closet and bedroom door)--will measure the walls and do some math. I know the colour and it's yellow! Need masking tape and maybe a tiny trim brush-I have a 1-1/2 inch one that is still good plus small roller brushes and a can of radiator paint.
I pulled out the garlic soup and French lentil salad recipes from my binder. This is the week to try them--in dire need of some different things to eat prior to Christmas.
HST amounts are out tomorrow in direct deposit accounts.
LIFT NRTC is available for 2019 income tax returns for anyone who had a low income year (thanks to @tjthemanto for posting that info last year).
Had any personal changes in the family last year? Might be needing to update your TD1 form for personal tax credits at your payroll department!
Canada Post stamp rates change on January 13! https://www.canadapost.ca/cpc/en/our...=announcements
Rexall is showing 10% off 10pk stamps starting tomorrow in its flyer...
Some stores no longer stock single-use grocery bags---take your totes with you everywhere just to be sure!
@coupon girl Last week on Dec. 30 I saw that Shoppers Photo had a 14 cent print sale if one had 100+ prints to submit. Hope that offer comes around again but without the print limit-I have some photos I'd like to print for my album. Have to see if the photo kiosk is working again (out of order a few days ago).
just sending a hug out to SassyAshley hope all is well .
ok..
todays money master class was a easy one. so that is done. still working on yesterdays... core values.. i figure i will take a bit with that one.
i ended up with 2 kids, instead of 4 today. and that is ok.

middle child goes back to school tomorrow. sigh. i hope they skpe more this semsester

ceil- walmart pictures are .13 for any amount ,so i am able to do it at home on my desktop computor and it would be cheaper if i did 100 or more but i can only do 18-25 at a time then my computer freezes and I lose all the ones I have saved in the Walmart phot lab-maybe from all the clicking and scrolling up and down.So far I have done 40 pictures .
I took Ashlyn to mcDonalds for lunch still cost $10.20 she had a happy meal and I had a coupon for a 3.00 cheese/egg bacon bagel and I had a tea .She was so good ,then I took her into fortinos for a few deals I wanted
(4) quaker oatmeal 1.99-buy 2 save 3.00=.50 a box
(2) quaker mini rice cakes 1.99-buy 2 save 1.50 I think 1.24
Scotties 6 pkg kleenex 4.99-1.50=3.49
saved 9.00 plus spent over 30 and got 3,000 points form fortinos
Nice gesture of the day an older customer in front of me said what a beautifull granddaughter-I said thank you. I was then told she wasn't blessed with grandchildren, she patted Ashlyn on the head and paid for her groceries and said to me "can I give her the raspberries I bought please " I said sure and Ashlyn thanked her and said I love raspberries, nana "she was a nice lady" Thought I would share as it was so kind of her .
Dinner at my mom's tonight. I am bringing the fresh bread and green beans. It's our little gift exchange.
I went to RCSS today. 40 ok of Quaker granola bars for $2.94. Ds is set for his lunch the next month. I bought 1 4pk of wrapping paper for $1.74 and 3 packs of tissue paper for .54 each. That is it for my stock up of Christmas wrap etc. Paid with change from casino win.
I also made a Hollister order. $56 total. Boxers for both boys for Christmas 2020 and a shirt for DS's birthday.
@Ciel What is LIFT NRTC?
