For those shopping at London Drugs who use internet printable coupons:

I was told today that ALL LD stores are now under a policy to only value any printed coupons at no more that $3, regardless of what their printed value is. I was using the printable $4 off coupon from the Robax website when I was notified of this policy, and told that I would only be given a $3 savings for my coupon. The cashier spoke to a manager, then informed me that this new policy is due to the number of fake coupons out there, the stores are trying to prevent the loss of money by setting a limit on how much an internet coupon is redeemable for.

I walked out of there feeling like she had called me a thief and a cheat. The farther I drove home, the more irritated I became, because I used a legit coupon that LD will now be MAKING $1 off of when they redeem it. So now not only have I lost $1 in savings, but they are profiting from this. I called the store as soon as I got home and spoke with one of the managers. He informed me that this is indeed their policy, but that it is up to a manager's discretion to decide whether or not to give the full value of the coupon. While rare, they do make exceptions to the rule. When I indicated to him that I had bought only the ONE product, and that I had left my coupon as a fully printed page with the website clearly printed on it to PROVE that it was a legit coupon, he then told me that if I had asked to have a manager present, I might have received the full value of my coupon.

I have called the toll free number for LD head office and asked to see a copy of this new policy relating to internet coupons, only to be told that they do not have it in writing, as there are some exceptions to the $3 internet coupon rule, such as electronics, so they can't actually put it into an official coupon policy, but that the stores are still supposed to treat it as if it is an official policy. I have asked them to please put this explanation into writing and e-mail it to me, so that I am better able to understand the policy, and they said they would do so. I will post here again once I receive this e-mail.

Did anyone else know about this new internet coupon policy? I shop there somewhat regularly, and this is the first time I've heard of it or had a coupon devalued like this. While I understand that it is to discourage people from using fraudulent coupons, I definitely felt like I was being viewed as a potential thief, and I do NOT need to experience that just to save a few dollars.

I will say that everyone I have spoken to, from the local manager to the lady in Customer Service at the head office, were all polite, understanding, and helpful, so that goes a long way towards making this experience feel more positive, but I still can't shake the feeling that I'm being watched as though I've ALREADY done something wrong.

Anyway, that's my shopping story for today, thanks for letting me rant!

Mine accepts some printable coupons over $3.00. It got crazy when the Multibiontia Vitamins had a $10 printable..... Some allowed it and some didn't.

Another nail in the LD couponing for me. I rarely go there now.

Saskatoon London Drugs has always had that as a coupon policy, I've ALWAYS had my coupons valued down to $3 when I shop there.

My london drugs always says the same thing. I always keep a pen with me and ask for the coupon back for a second and write "product price is 3$" on the coupon so they will not profit from that dollar or so that I missed out on.

Seriously?? You dont want them to profit - despite the fact that they allow us to stack to get free stuff that we would otherwise have to pay for??

I wouldn't care if they profited from it at all, I consider Stacking to be a HUGE benefit to us, like BIGGER than HUGE!! I have never paid for a diaper, bottle of formula, feminine product, hygiene product or vitamin and lots more all because of their kindness!!!! If they make a few bucks off it - good for them, they have saved me TENS of THOUSANDS!!!

Also - this has always been the policy

Hmmm....I've used higher-value internet coupons frequently over the last few years at LD-as recently as 2 weeks ago, even-and never had them devalued from full price. Ever. That combined with every manager and CSR I spoke to today (even head office) telling me that this was a 'new' policy, I was led to believe that this was a recent change.

This policy being a long standing one changes my frustration level somewhat, but I'm still fairly cheesed off about the whole experience. I am SUPER grateful that LD does allow stacking and things that other retailers don't always allow, but not even having it in writing seems a bit shady to me, like they are trying to profit from this in an underhanded fashion. If it were a written policy (allowing for the exceptions for electronics that I was told of), it might not seem so sneaky to me, at least. Thanks for letting me express my opinion, and for expressing all of yours as well!

I live in Saskatoon, and that has always been the policy. They have never accepted an internet coupon higher than $3.00. Moreover, you lost $1.00 over the whole thing. I know a dollar saved is a dollar earned, but I don't think you should get too upset over this.

This has been their policy for a long time. And, at one point I believe it was in their written coupon policy - the fact that LD doesn't accept internet coupons over $3.00. So the fact that they evened yours out to $3.00 is great, in the past they just wouldn't accept any internet coupon over $3.00...thus, they would have rejected your $4.00 coupon completely.

LD lets us stack which is a lot more than a lot of stores. If you want to use printable coupons, go to Walmart as they will accept them.

LD (and any store that takes coupons) are already making a profit everytime coupons are redeemed with them. how is it fair that manufacturers put HV coupons out, but stores wont accept them beyond a certain value, yet they make the profit on the face value of the coupon?? i think this rule is absurd, especially considering LD now requests that internet printed coupons remain on a full sheet of paper with the web address printed on the bottom. this coupon comes straight from the robax website....how can they think this "might" me a fraudulent coupon???

I never shop at LD anymore. They hardly stack anything and give me a hard time when I do. Is just not worth it to feel humiliated or like I am a thief either. Plus no company should get more than the value of the coupon. It would be like us using the coupon the wrong way and abusing it. That's what LD or any other company would be doing if they tried to get more in return for the coupon. Let's all keep to being honest shall we.

I haven't been back to LD since December when very time I went in a new policy is in place. It was so frustrating and time consuming. I used to go in and out in about 10-15mins. Since there was a change in the policy I'll be lucky to get out in 30mins. Not worth my time and how is it that they have to adjust coupon with a legitimate website and redeem it for a full amount. It just doesn't seem fair. I rather shop somewhere else where they will accept the full value of the coupon. The restrictions on stacking also eliminate majority of coupons available to stacker.

Our LD's won't take internet ones over $3 so I've never tried using one that was more. I think I would rather have them mark one down and still stack than not use it at all.
Going to check next time I go. I think it would be great and open up more opportunity for me personally if they would take them. I just never tried.

this policy has been enforced at all the Ld stores I ahve shopped at, including on the Sunshine Coat last year, when I started stacking. I was informed that they will take internet cpns, up to the max of $3.00, so they would only enter $3.00 for those valued above $3,00. As others have already said, it is a privilage to be able to stack, and I enjoy doing stacking a lot!! So for me the fact that there is a rule about the total value acceptable for a printabe..when using a stack......then thats fine.
Honestly I have not used a printabe without it being in a stack, so will check now at my local Ld a senario if I was buying a product with just one internet high value cpns..would they still only take it a $3.00.......good question??
