Looking for help from any non ontario canuckers - what type/brands of alcohol does your costco stock and what is the pricing like?
I'm getting married in September and we're supplying the booze but I'm trying to get the cheapest options. We'd rather not make wine, I've yet to ever have a decent self made wedding wine.
I know you're not supposed to carry booze between provinces so this is just hypothetical
And any other hypothetical/non hypothetical ideas for ways to save on this are most welcome!!This thread is currently associated with: Costco

Here in NS, you can't get booze at Costco. Sorry, I'm no help!

I can't help either, but I did want to comment that the prices for alcohol in the Honolulu Costco were astonishing. I'm surprised everyone isn't a raving alcoholic there!

The costco in Hull, QC carries alcohol. I know the beer ranges from $55-$70 for 55-60 beers. Coors light is $60 for 60 (at least last time I was there). I think the bud was slightly more, and Molson had a 60 multi pack (20 of 3 different kinds) for about $65 if I'm not mistaken.
HTH. I haven't been since the summer time though, so not sure if prices are the exact same. Oh and there's also a small deposit fee.

I've never seen spirits at Costco (otherwise I'd have bought them out). I always see lots of beer (cans and bottles). I should be going on Monday so I can check prices.
Also, not sure if the SAQ section is still there or not with wine. There's usually always the wine-in-a-box stuff. And non-alcholic bubbly drinks (which are yummy).

Just a heads up that for our wedding where we provided our own liquor we also had to have the receipts from the LCBO at the reception as they can drop in and check at any time. I don't know if things have changed but definitely look into it all!

We can buy wine KITS at Costco in NS. After all, at that point it's mostly just fruit juice and yeast, zero alcohol content! But actual beer and wine, no.

Wow, yeah definately look into the rules in your area.
We had to get a liquor licence at our Stag & Doe but didn't need any receipts etc. Maybe because we were selling it, where as at a wedding you'd be giving it away? Or maybe it's just different area's have different rules?
Worth looking into though

You might contact a local liquor store ask if you can get a deal if you buy by the case,
Or all the products you need that they carry. I work in a liquor store in Alberta if you are using a hall here you need a liquor license that you get at the store plus the receipts.
We usually ring the sale up in training mode give the costumer a receipt then when the party is over we take back any unopened bottles and ring up what was used then the customer pays.
It might be worth checking out in you area.

LCBO is quite strict for you guys, it seems, lol. When I went to Niagara with some friends a couple of years ago, we had no idea that we had to find a LCBO in order to get alcohol. We had gone to a 7-11 and then to a grocery and finally asked someone where the hell they sold it XD Is that the same for all of Ontario?
Here in Quebec, it's so easy to buy!
