I phoned my doctors office today and told them its just unbearable now. I woke up all last night with night sweats and Im just getting pissed now. So I told them if they dont get me appointment Im stopping all my medication end of story. Well I got an appointment a few hours later haha. I went in had everything written down all my symptoms, all my medication, and gave it to my doc. So.... he read them over and had this really strange look on his face. He told me he probably could make a diagnoses with all these symptoms but its strange and rare. *drum roll please* MENOPAUSE Yep, uhuh yep 23 years old that I am and might be hitting menopause. Now let me tell you this hes on a war path with the specialists, and the tests only took him how long. I have been referred to a endocrinoloist (sp?), and had major blood work, urine tests, and saliva tests. Also, had literally every doctor in this office in to see me today (dont I feel special). Now Ive been having *issues* since I was 15 ish well he has tried numerous things and they seem to work for a short period of time, but the new symptoms that keep showing up. He suspects a hormonal imbalance and according to numerous doctors in the office if left untreated it will basically form into menopause (something to do with the hormones and lack of or too much of then the body I guess just assumes its time to go into menopause). So I guess Ill have to see and wait until these tests come back for sure.

Ricki ... I started my periods when I was 8 1/2 yrs old and was cursed for way too many years right into my 50's ... early menopause would have been a blessing for me! lol

I was born 3.5 months premature and honestly majority of my problems are from the *treatments*. My Mother was taken to the local hospital (it a giant shat hole trust me and I wouldnt trust my life there). They drove in an a,bulance down to Toronto (Women College). I am almost legally blind, and have about 60% of my hearing. I have had nothing but problems with the bowels since I was a baby. But they say they dont know whether that was from being a preemie or from the genetic bowel disorders my family carries along. I spent the first year of my life in Womens College then in and out of Sick Kids until I was about 12 years old. My parents were told I wouldnt survive, then when that happened it was I would never walk, talk, do anything on my own. Although I was about a year behind everyone (due to being in the hospital) overall I developed normally (shifting eyes cough). According to doctors I have some form of .re.tard. ation yep for years I was told this in school you want to know what it was because I couldnt see
. I couldnt see so I couldnt read, couldnt write, and I couldnt hear so I would go sit in class and stare at a wall and the odd time I would walk into walls, or trip over steps. I had the usual therapists, and all that with the speech, seeing, and so on. But once they found out I couldnt hear they realise by how I spoke
but the thousands my parents forked into me I have done pretty well oh and I dont have a speak problem and most people dont even realize I cant hear unless they notice me reading their lips.

Neither can I !
Lets hope its something and can be reversed. Im not ready to deal with this now nor am I when Im 45.
I thought my Mother was nuts for years but now I know why she wears shorts & tshirts sitting in a snow bank in -30C weather. But according to a few of the docs in the office since I just started getting some of the symptoms its just beginning. The hot flashes, night sweats, weight gain, and so on has only been in the last 4 -6 months so thats when the levels really shifted. Before they were off but not enough for the body to stress and trigger menopause.
So they ran a bunch of tests and going to this specialist. But they have to basically find what levels are off whether its too high or too low.
8 and half? wow I feel for you although I was 11 / 12 when I got mine. But you were just a kid ruin your childhood. They say if you got your period early you hit menopause early guess that didnt apply for you. But then if you look at your family history they say you can base it for you.

ricki...have you tried going to a naturopath?
i had terrible eczema and went to dr. after dr. after specialist and no one was able to help me. then i decided to go to a naturopath and she had me mostly cleared up in a matter of weeks. i know your problem is completely different but it might be worth a shot?
