Why are most young people turned off by the idea of using coupons?

I joined smartcancuks three years ago when I was 19 and moving out on my own. my mom/grandparents have been using coupons as long as I can remember so of course I planned on doing the same to get by.\

Recently when I moved in with my boyfriend ( who also loves couponing thanks to me) we've had alot of his friends over when they ask about our stockpile we tell them all about coupoing and how much they can save. we also tell them about icoke and the movie passes/gcs they can get etc they all turn their nose up at the idea! what is wrong with saving money?

absolutely NOTHING. and good for both of you.. can't really explain y teenagers heck even some adults turn their nose up to it.. its like.. they are too 'good' to use a coupon.

In my experience seeing who uses coupon, it isn't an age related situation.

Nothing is wrong with couponing. I guess some people just want to pay for stuff. Me on the other hand, free is good!

nothing is wrong with it, i grew up with a mom who used coupons and i have already paid attention to the flyers, bought mostly sale items and use a lot of coupons- i am in my late twenties.

Nothing wrong with that...I bit my finger everyday for not had the idea to do it before (I really hope sometime finding this site earlier).Even it take a little bit more time ...I love to save money and have coupons for the things I use on regular basic...I guess the coupons are way more easily to find in the last 2 years when you paying attention

I took coupons as a tool but I know it will never do the same thing as money so I try to not be so dependant lol

Nothing wrong with it, but most kids just see it as a granny activity. I started when I was 15-16, and still going strong.

Kids will pick on other kids for all sorts of things, 'odd' activities for the age group is one of them.

+1. Me too even at 27. And I noticed all the coupons starting all the same : you had loose money,you are a stay at home mom with just 1 salary. but it's okaie ...and it's great too....I just say all the things I heard about this...not what I am thinking

Personnaly I will be debt free and I want to do this for that reason

When I use a coupon my bf use to say: dont clear the shelf even I take like 6 bodywash today...I will tell him to watch extreme coupponing in french lol

I think some people are embrassed by it. Or they think that it makes them look cheap or poor. Sadly, many attach a stigma to couponers. You are obviously doing a great job! Keep it up! And when you can afford to treat yourself here and there, and your friends can't, remind them it's because of all the money you save thanks to all those coupons.
