@princessjen , your workplace gave your coworker the wrong advice. You can call public health anonymously. They can give your coworker a letter or email for the workplace.
Self-isolation may still be required of the contact at the discretion of the local
public health unit. For example, in the event that the local public health unit
has information about the VOC testing results of the index case that the fully
vaccinated or previously positive individual was exposed to (e.g., known or
suspected VOC with known significant vaccine/immune escape and/or if the
index case is a breakthrough case or if a significantly greater proportion of
breakthrough cases than would be expected are reported among other high
risk contacts), self-isolation may still be required of the contact(s).
oIf the contact is advised to self-isolate, household members of the
asymptomatic and exposed individual who are not fully vaccinated
should also be advised to stay at home except for essential reasons
(e.g., attending school/work/buying groceries/picking up
prescriptions).

@francine1985 I saw a news item about the CUPE strike and am surprised your province also has labour issues with college workers.

Ontario colleges' full-time staff contracts expired about 3 months ago and talks stopped this week. I am guessing a former friend of mine is glad she completed her program in the past year rather than taking a year off like she intended. It must be anxiety-racking for students who rely on grants/program funding for tuition and books not knowing if their academic semester will be in jeopardy this year."This is the Way." Circuit breaker extended another 7 days in zones 1 and zone 2. They are dropping it in zones 3, 4, and 5 at 6pm tomorrow evening (Friday November 5th). They are concerned about zone 7 having increased cases from 2 outbreak clusters and are keeping an eye on it but are not having a circuit breaker there yet.

Calling this shutdown a 'circuit breaker' just extends the farce; like calling CoVid a 'sniffle'.
So, the length is now five weeks. As I previously predicted, you heard it here, first. My food may not befit a king, but I eat like a horse.

what gets me the most is that we’ve had cases in almost all of our schools throughout the province. They won’t close the schools for more than a day to do contact tracing in the event of a positive case in the school. Some schools had so many cases they were closed for over a week with no notice on a day to day basis. (My kids school only closed for 1 day due to a case)… however there’s another local school that was closed for over a week as well as several shorter closures. My husband’s co-worker had to miss work which was unpaid to care for his kids when none of the cases were even in their classes.
here we are now though day 4 of online learning due to the strike. While we don’t know when it will end it still give parents more chances to book childcare with some advanced notice. Part of me hopes this strike lingers on for the bulk of cold/flu season.
edit to add. We are supposed to maintain a single household bubble and my kids can’t see their friends outside of school… The exact same friends they spend hours a day with when school are open. My youngest had 29 kids in his class. My oldest doesn’t know how many kids are in his class.Last edited by francine1985; Thu, Nov 4th, 2021 at 04:53 PM.

They are lifting the circuit breaker in zone 2 and parts of zone 1, they are extending the circuit breaker in the Moncton/Dieppe/Riverview areas of zone 1 (which is where I live)… they are also starting a 14 day circuit breaker in zone 7.

Not a covid update… I previously mentioned that we were doing online school due to the strike shutting down schools. They have announced that schools will be opened back up tomorrow. Part of me was hoping it will drag on through the cold/flu season, but the kids are excited to go back and spend time with their friends in overcrowded classrooms while we maintain the mandatory single household bubbles at home.

Kids aged 5-11 will soon be vaxxed in QC. Personally i think its a good idea. Its a protectikon for the kids themselves and for their families and other peeps all around them. I also heard that as of Nov 30 in QC, unvaxxed peeps will have a harder time going anywhere. Its the vaxxed that will have more priviledges. Dont know exactly what that entails but we shall see. I havent been following the Covid situation in QC very carefully the past few weeks so im glad to see the posts here.

Because of the Covid situation here in QC, the Provincial Liberals are proposing that the Prov Govt give each senior 70+ $2,000. Would be great if this passes but im not holding my breath!
