uRRRGH! Here is one that I just hate.

What is your Garbage day? Every week? Every two weeks? Is your recycle the same day? What time do you have to have it out there by?

Ours is today of course and we have to have the garbage on the curb before 7am, as we live on the main street in our small town. Guess what woke me up this morning... the freakin' garbage truck. Hubby usually does it but he is still laid up with his knee so it was MY responsibility to do it and I totally failed. Our recycle is the same day and I missed that two. They only collect our garbage/recycle every second week and only one black garbage bag allowed, the rest have to be clear.

Good thing its freezing out because I didn't get the maggot mobile (organics bin) out there either! I just put the garbage out there now anyways in the hopes that they might feel sorry for me on one of the many times they will pass here through the day and pick it up... doubt it. Oh well, hubby has a big bin at work that we can sneak it into later if we have to, my 2l pop stockpile is at his work and we need to raid it today anyways.

OH! Don't get me started on a garbage rant!! It is one of my big pet peeves around here!!

Our garbage day is every Monday -HOWEVER our garbage collection people have very strict rules about the items they will and will not take so ours seldom leaves on Monday. They will not take a bag that weighs over 20lbs (I figure if I can carry it up our very long country driveway, they can lift it into the truck....), they won't take a bag with a rip in it (we have lots of raccoon's, coyotes etc that get into garbage, so if you put it out the night before it will have a rip in it!...even if you put it in a bin, raccoon's can get into anything!!), and they insist on coming at random times, sometimes as early as 6:30 am sometimes as late as 10.

So on Monday mornings I have to get up at 6am (an hour early) to take the garbage out, on the chance they may take it (if they don't weigh it -yup they carry a scale, and it meets their standards for size, rips, etc), and watch for raccoon's etc to make sure the bag remains untouched until the garbage man arrives.

Oh to top it off, it costs us $3 a bag to get rid of it, (plus our landfill fees on our taxes).....IF they take it.

Recycling is just as bad, it is every second week, and if you appear to have too much (we have 3 bins, usually full -but sorted) they will refuse to take it.

Since we have to go to the dump anyways to take our garbage that the garbage person has plastered in their "We won't take this" sticker, we just take our recycling too......

the things that get our panties in a know eh! Mine is still sitting out on the side walk freezing its cans off. We have a lot of bottle collectors, so I know my plastics will take a walk.

Way too funny about the scale.... that is hilarious. And the paying $3 a bag is crazy!! People wonder why there are random garbage dumps on lonely roads....

As for TV show I don't really get to watch more than Diego or the wiggles (my little one) or wheel of fortune and jeopardy (my bigger ones) LOL When I do on the odd chance get to watch something I watch the big bang theory or Mike and Molly or Whitney

And wowsa.... garbage people are crazy!

We have pick up every Wednesday. 2 Bags OR containers per household. So, if you stuff 4 garbage bags into 1 BIG garbage container.... they take it.

Recycling is Wednesday too. They take it. No Issues. Blue Box and Yellow Box. One for paper, etc... the other for cans, glass, etc.

And twice a year, our dump offers "no fee for a week"... so we try to do our "spring/fall" cleaing around that.

Oh, the pick up after Christmas.... no limit.

My garbage Day is every other tuesday and have a roll out cart. Since we are a small rural AB town we don't have curbside recycling but we have recycle center to take our recycling to. We do however have compost pick up that goes to the ag college in town. I am not allowed to complain because my Mom works for the waste commission LOL
