I caved and bought a GOURMIA air-fryer from Costco last week...$64.99 - apparently they are in big demand because as soon as staff bring them out, customers buy them all.

Air fryers are really just tiny convection ovens. If you already have a convection range, you don't need one.
A friend of mine does product testing for a living, and she got very sick testing air fryers. Problem is the plastics. While it is technically at "safe level", it does emits plastic fumes. When my friend was testing them, their team was firing up 100+ air fryers in the office for a week and the entire floor smells like plastics. Even the offices from other floors can smell it.
With home use, you only use the air fryer few times a week so you won't feel it. But just know that it does cause some indoor pollution because they are all cased in plastics to avoid burning.
