Try to take some me time if you can,I know it is not always easy tought
@SassyAshley some physio clinics offer special rates for people without coverage, call and ask around. Also you can have your Mom be assessed/given exercises and see physio on a just needed basis (to make sure she is doing the exercises correctly). Voltaren emugel works great and if the pain continues, ask to see a physiatrist (physical medicine and rehab doctor) which is covered. Also if exercises don't help, than cortisone injections are an option depending on the location.
@Angela273 try looking for the anti-chafing gel online - either amazon or ebay may still have it. I managed to find a discontinued product on ebay.
Good morning!!! :)
Already checked the new flyers.
Have a awesome day!!! :)

Good morning everyone.
We ended up not making it to Costco yesterday so we will hit them up after work today.
Yesterday we filled up with diesel (got it for 240.9) which was a steal since it’s priced at 258.9 in our local neighbourhood. We went into the city for a late lunch that meant only a snack for dinner. I picked up some delicious local strawberries for 4.99/lb at a mom and pop grocery store. They are sooooooooo worth it.
I removed some romaine from my garden since the ants were too much and replaced them with a rosemary and thyme plant since ants don’t like those. Hopefully it works.
The weather has definitely changed today. Clouds in the sky, much cooler and windy. It went from 35.5 yesterday to a high of 21 today with the chance of thunderstorms and light rain this afternoon.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Last day of Grade 1 and last day of Grade 4. They're going swimming this morning and watching a movie this afternoon.
Well I am happy that Canada is on Friday this year. It's always weird when it is mid week. So I took Monday off for a 4 day weekend :)
We stop working at 3pm on the day before a long weekend so Thursday meeting friends on a local patio shortly after 3 :). A few drinks and then dinner! Great way to kick off the long weekend.
Friday will be a good day to work in the yard and then have a nice bbq for dinner. Then walk down to the park for the fireworks if it is happening this year.
Thanks Barbis9
We think we found one resource that may help, she is waiting on a call back. I did suggest she find out where the doc would send her and we would see what the cost would be for a few sessions just to find the right exercises for her but she hesitant right now. I think it is because she just does not have the extra $$$ right now.
I will have her look into the Physiatrist, have never heard of this before but we will look into it.
They did offer cortisone but when she went in to talk to the doc about it she said he wasn't really selling it. It was more like well I guess we could try it so she has held off. Has anyone on here had cortisone shots?
Thanks for the advise, we will see what we can do. Does not help that starting tomorrow until July 11 our doc is on vacation and in our area there is coverage well he is away, just walk-in clinics and none of them see anyone in person.
My mother suffers from rheumatoid- and osteo-arthritis. She has taken cortisone shots to her knees and ankles, as well as, a recent shot to her shoulder. The lower limbs were arthritis, but the doc thought that her shoulder pain was from over-use. The shots solved her knee/ankle problems with only a shot or two of the prescribed three. Her shoulder has recovered range of motion and significant pain reduction.
I personally think that her shoulder was more induced by repetitive stress injury, from the way she held her iPad in her lap for hours on end. I have forced her to sit at the table to elevate her elbow and think that it has helped immensely. I, personally, inflicted some RSI to my own elbow by sitting at a computer with the mouse ever so slightly improperly situated. I fixed myself by fixing my own circumstances.
My brother and his wife also got themselves into trouble with 'frozen shoulders' from poor ergonomics. I don't think they took any shots and rehabilitated themselves via exercises assigned by their physiotherapists. They showed me some; things like rolling their arms outward atop an exercise ball to improve range of motion, slowly and consistently.
IMO, cortisone can help by giving your body a chance to 'catch up' and heal. However, IMO, if you continue the same unhealthy practices that got you into the situation afterwards, you are only going to re-aggravate the problem. I am not a doctor or healthcare professional.
@Angela273 I have not found that anti-chafing gel on major sites (retail) yet, but I think if you know of smaller pharmacies where their on shelf stock does not turn over much because the pharmacies mostly exist for medical centre prescriptions, maybe you might find the gel that way. I will have a look at the shelves at Fortinos and Shoppers as item is not showing on the Fortinos website. *update-did not see any product at Walmart Supercentre on my walk at night*
Ice cream thoughts have me thinking of Denninger's chest freezer full of Hewitt's flavours. Must get a visit in this week as I really have not liked the flavours of the small tubs of frozen treats Mom has bought. Also fresh produce-tomorrow is market day *afternoon really* and maybe berries should be on the list.
Well.ca has a Summer Sale underway until July 3. 2500 products up to 50% off--some fun things for home next week or young kids could be a welcome find in the post after the Canada/US long weekend.
@SassyAshley I used to work at a physio clinic and that is what I used to tell clients that had limited finances. You want to make sure you are doing the exercises properly and a physio can assess if further tests are needed.
I have had cortisone injections and they did help with pain - I wouldn't hesitate to have another one if needed. However not every one finds they help - best to try it once and see. I would rather have an injection than take NSAIDS (non-steroid anti-inflammatory medication).
Good Morning! Rainy day here today.
I am tired. DS went to to the after Grad party last night and I was the nice mama and drove and picked him and his friends up and drove them back home.
On our way home we drove by another party (there were many- all the schools had Grad last night in our area) and the police were there so they were happy they went to a different one.
So today I just want to get through the work day and then I am relaxing and will probably fall asleep early.
Have a great day!
