Who is your insurance provider? They should be contacting the police directly, and go ahead and repair your vehicle properly, so that it is safe. Whether or not it is written off, depends on the value of the vehicle. Most policies allow one accident before rates go up. Speak to your insurance company or broker directly. They can get that info asap and that is what adjusters do. Insurance is expensive, and therefore think of putting a claim in, like a return on your investment. They will pay for physio/massage up to $3,500 if you fill out a medical form.
Most definitely not your fault. You had the right of way.
On The main road you were going straight. You were not turning into the parking lot.
The guy in the parking lot has to wait and look, left and right and only when it is safe to do so and there is enough gap he can turn & pull into the main road.
He pulled right in front of you from the parking lot onto to the main road.
Doesn't matter if he falsely assumed that you are not going straight and he assumed that you are turning into the parking lot, he is still at fault.
Insurance company should know, they have a fault determination book. They are just passing the buck.
Whether the officer charges the other driver or not and the insurance rules are 2 different things and mutually exclusive.
Officers are mostly never at the scene, when the accident happens. They almost always come later on, so never witness what happens.
So you can always dispute their charge, lot of times they are wrong and you can win in court against them, when wrongly charged
1st load of laundry washed and hanging to dry in the spare room ( will make it easer for me to put away tomorrow night :))
2nd and last load in the washer.
The pile looked bigger then it was!
Dinner- leftovers/fend for yourself.
Thinking a coffee and drive is needed when done work.
@SassyAshley sorry to read about your accident but thankful it was not worse. Praying that you will recover quickly. As for insurance companies I will hold my tongue and just say that they are quick to take your money but not so easily giving any out. Keep your wits about you and proceed with caution.
Managed to get out this afternoon to donate the 3 children's activity items, 2 kitchen tools and 3 pairs of socks (2 of the Skechers ones not yet worn and the CK men's fall crew socks). Credit union had a big box with their name on it for the donation bin. One customer had looked at the box just before I came into the branch then looked again when I put my tote (glad to let the PC tote move on and help someone bag their future items) inside. I hadn't gone around the box but there was no signage on the box.
Did a little browsing at nearby stores. Dollar Tree no longer has Coke Dreamworld and a couple of store aisles have icky lighting as one aisle's lights are completely out (can't be fun for staff either to stock under shadows).
Winners has a ton of Halloween themed kitchen towels on one display at back of store but limited assortment for Thanksgiving or non-themed towels (a couple of prints were like green/red Xmas or holiday themed towels). Even saw a few Day of the Dead towels. Found some gift bags 25% off so $3 instead of $3.99. Got two sale bags and one at $3.99-two bags have tags and tissue paper which are wins in my opinion. Got two birthday cards on sale too. Hardly any bedding in stock (no flannel either) and ditto shower curtains-two cream prints in fabric and one style in transparent curtain with black script ($12.99 for the latter). Socks-amazingly, this section for women has started to come back to its former glory of two years ago. Some ski socks, lots of kate spade no-show or short socks, and an assortment of everyday socks. Plus the usual branded activewear no-show socks in 6pks or the nude shoe liner socks that look like pantyhose (some on clearance). Purses have been moved up to socks dept. and lingerie/sleepwear moved to back of store.
Mostly puffer parkas and longer length versions are in stock for coats-not too many sizes of any style. A few snowboarding (rougher coat fabric) coats. Nothing really heavy for wintry blasts when waiting for public transit outdoors or a long shovelling snow session.
Then after touring the sale endcaps (saw two home decor aisles mostly cleared with a little Xmas decor stock), I saw that men's underwear had 4pks of US Polo Assn white tank tops (with black embroidered logos on left chest), 4pks of Lucky ---- and 3pks of Reebok (grey logo) tanks-all at $19.99. Saw men's crewnecks 4pks-did not look at price. Less of a commitment than the 6pk of tank tops over in Walmart's menswear for $22.99.
Forgot to check the price of the Gund Flappy Elephant plush toy in the Baby/Toy area-too busy trying to get the leg squeezed to do the song but it did not run. Same toy runs about $55 at Indigo so it was a fun find at Winners.
Walmart-right behind the skids of 50ct Halloween/snack size treats was a skid of Hallmark Xmas ornaments and Xmas cards in the Seasonal section. Parking lot work is still in progress (no paving yet) so expect at least another week of using west side entrance. Unfortunately, the other end by the fencing has 12 skids of pumpkins, some turning bad, sitting without major pedestrian traffic. Maybe store will move them closer to the actual open entrance to get product moving. After getting my bandages (Skin Flex to give my chest a break from pressure of those folded gauze pads), I walked past womenswear. Coats-still puffers or maybe a rain parka. No heavy weather coats. Too many plaid shirts with icky snaps or buttons for fall. SOmetimes the chain's chase of a pricepoint makes for lousy merchandising purchases.
Wandered over to baby shampoo/lotions. Way at the back of the 400ml J&J baby shampoo row as one 600ml pump bottle (had to crouch down to see it). Only other pumps were for lotions. No Hello BEllo products in that aisle or next one over. Assume product line was moved near its diapers across another aisle area where strollers and car seats are located (right by the diapers!).
Walmart has lots of fall bulb packages for $9.97 between the Seasonal and Womenswear depts. Was trying to think of what to look at grocery but decided not to go to that side of store (forgot to see the K-cup pricing and Twinings tea pricing).
Two cash lanes were open (it was not yet 6pm). Since I was near the self-checkout area, wondered when half of the self-checkout tills got the curved counters by machines while other side has no extra space beyond the metal surfaces. Must have been a recent addition, those curved counters to help big buys get stacked after scanning.
The renamed surplus store is not yet open (sign indicated opening soon-this weekend?). Handwritten sign listed Instagram account. Seems the store shelving has been swapped out from white metal to dark brown wooden shelving. Food items in one window that was formerly the clothing area. Still a bit messy but about half of store is stocked, with a van parked by the door.
Sammy's Resto is not going to be ready soon-I could see steel framing joints all over the store so that means walls still have to be made then the trades do all the hookups/wiring/outlets. This venue was intended to have opened last month so there must be some timing issues.
Mom and Bro brought in at least 3 of those Walmart totes into the house. They multiply too fast. I had asked Mom to get the 5L jug of Palmolive but she bought an almost 2.7L OXy jug of purple Palmolive instead. Not sure how we'll like the scent and lack of product...I was upset she did not get the regular detergent as it's on sale this flyer.
Keeping with two cups of tea at least per day!
Decided I will feed the birds the remaining half container of Ancient Grains oatmeal mix. It's causing me too much discomfort later in the day and I need a less problematic breakfast. Tomorrow, toast with pizza sauce and Tex-Mex shredded cheese is on the menu!
Was walking down the sidewalk when I spotted some discarded wood, along the side. I thought about just leaving it, but then re-considered and picked it up, to carry to a garbage can 200m in the distance. On my way, I stumbled across a $50 note. Guess the Almighty was looking out for those who try to help Him out.
Good Morning! Cool but sunny here.
I needed to get out of the house yesterday afterwork. Gas had been 20 cents cheaper a L out of town so thought I would go for a drive.
Ended up at the casino lol. Had an offer for $50 Free play so used that. Used points for a salad and piece of chicken for dinner. Menu now is limited since they opened the buffet last week so not much choice. Brought DS home chicken fingers and fries. Left with $250 extra :). Filled up my gas tank.
Was a nice drive.
This morning after dropping DS off I stopped at No Frills. Picked up the Paper Towel deal and received 10,000 pc pts. Raspberries and blueberries (400 pc pts per raspberry) I already received the points on the blueberries the other day (they only had one available)
Love the fresh berries on my oatmeal and this is the best breakfast for me. Bought an olive oil for $5.99 (to have extra)
Food Basics- The Marc Angelo chicken kabobs had a 40% sticker on them so grabbed the 2. Will cook one today for meal prep and the other I popped in the freezer. (they were out of the BLSL chic breast in the flyer) I also picked up 2 boxes of the mozz sticks for the freezer. DS likes them so a treat for him to try in the air fryer. (on for $4.99)
I really wanted to buy the 50pk Halloween bars on for $5.99 at No Frills but I don't want them around the house with still almost a month away to shell out. Maybe I will get them and tell someone to hide them from me lol
Treadmill done for the day! On later then the past 3 days but it is done!
Now lots of water and clean out the fridge to prep my food for the day (chicken and veggies) and wrap the BLSL chicken for the freezer from the other day.
Wow! A lot happens when I’m on holidays.
@SassyAshley I’m so sorry to hear about your car accident. No fault insurance in garbage. I agree with @tjthemanto , if you were on the through road and they pulled out for what is a “safe spot” then they are responsible for making sure it’s 100% safe to do so. I had a lady pull out in front of me years ago (she came from the side street and our insurance told me that it didn’t matter if I was going 100km/hr in a 50 zone they still had the responsibility to make sure it was safe for them to proceed ( she tried to say I was speeding which I wasn’t ) anyways that’s in BC so not sure about another province but it seems pretty simple to me.
Vacation was SOOOOOO nice. Did my twice a year trip to Salmon Arm to get my hair done, spent some time in the Okanagan (Kelowna, Penticton, etc…).
Dh and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary yesterday and did it in style…. We played pickle ball :excited:. Actually we played it more like tennis (I think our competitive nature comes out :lolsign:). I’m back at running (on a treadmill since that’s what I actually prefer). It feels so good to be back at it and it’s much easier on my body for sure.
I’m going to finish the little laundry I have left. We did a $327 Costco shop yesterday so that’s done and other than silk coffee creamer we don’t need anything.
Came home to a Mastercard pre paid for $45.85 and had no idea why P&G would send it to me but then figured it must have been from the money back offer they had on Olay products. I bought and hated the Olay facial cleansing brush so I wanted my $$$ back.
$20.71 coming from checkout 51 (Dh’s but still need to cash mine out), still waiting on $36.73 from my first rakuten and the now $6.00 from them coming up……
Hope everyone has a great day. I’m going to head to the garden and hopefully tidy it up a bit after being away…. Need some sun and Vit D
Harbie glad you had a nice trip and got your hair done.Oh and happy anniversary.
I went to mastermind this morning and got two birthday gifts for the grandkids and a xmas gift for sebastian saved 20% as it was seniors day ,so glad i did that .
Then popped into dollar tree and got a few loaves of bread 1.50 country harvest or and treated myself to a godiva bar 1.25 yummmm.
I am not sure who we are with off the top of my head. Found out today they have contacted the police but the police have not responded so not sure what that means. Our claim is being processed and someone will be in contact before the end of the week.
That is where I was confused as that is what the police officer said was insurance would determine fault as far as the claim goes. Said I have charged people in the past for insurance to come back at find them 50% at fault even though in my report the other driver was at fault. But he did say in my case he could not see them finding me at fault as you said I was on the road going straight and they pulled out. I am feeling so beyond lost in this whole process.
It almost feel like, you are class you do not attend any classes but try to write the final. It feels like they are treating us like we should all know the process and how things work but no one is there to explain it to you.
Oh my gosh that sounds horrible.
I do not understand the police not attending the scene. I 100% get what you are saying they were trying to get us to go to a reporting centre and the other driver probably would have agreed expect the local one was not open so they would have had to tow their car an hour and half away.
I just feel like there are so many flaws in this system.
What happens if one reports the accident but the other driver decides not too, figures I won't say anything, fix my car out of pocket.
The cars have been moved what if there are two conflicting reports, there was no police officer there to see the cars, to see where they were on the road.
@harbie, Happy Anniversary
I was told the same thing sort of as the driver said they thought I was pulling into the plaza. The officer said it does not matter even if I had a signal on (I did not, he was just making a point), the driver pulling out did not know if I was turning into that plaza or the next. It is the person pulling out responsibility to make sure it is safe to do so.
Happy to get a sample source email invite yesterday and was able to get 9 items.
Despite weather forecasters saying what a lovely day it was (Ms Sunshine was!), Mr. Wind has had icy teeth for days already...
OK, Universe resolved the e-mail punt-found what I was hoping for in the Spam folder last night (hadn't checked there day before because my folder has not shown email counts in recent years). Odd that one landed there but the random email was in the Inbox. Everything has been resolved (whew!).
Did put some laundry outside-only the kitchen towels got mostly dry but I did run everything through the dryer just to finish and to make sure it was dry. Ironed my summer sheet set (laundered last week but left aside ) and my scarf. Managed to finally vacuum my room. Will work through the papers and items-need to get rid of more stuff. Watched Jamie Oliver's 30minute meals and wanted to eat that roast beef/popovers and carrots plus crispy potatoes meal! AM channel scan-tv picked up lots of US stations. PM channel scan-CBC Toronto came back (and I noticed the tv signal pad needed a nudge for stronger signal) but I lost most of the extra stations. Makes for interesting tv watching when I can see HSN or How It's Made shows.
My wool hat has been so good for chilly mornings when I step outside. I am feeling the cold with this short hair!
Was looking at candidates for my ward and discovered advance polls start this Friday. Meanwhile, no voting cards have appeared in the mail. Tomorrow?
@HermanH and @Frugalbigmama -love your stories! Congrats on the windfalls!
Good Morning. We have sunshine!
For dinner last night I basically cleaned out the fridge and started cooking all the things. I put the chicken skewers on the BBQ. Cut up the cauliflower and steamed that. Cut up mushrooms, grape tomatoes and garlic and sauteed them in coconut oil. Cut an avocado. Made a Greek salad. When it was all ready I wasn't even hungry. I made a small plate for myself and made up my lunch for tomorrow.
We went out and cleaned the garage for a bit last evening. Tossed some garbage. Moved stuff so we can put the BBQ near the door and then we can just pull it out when we want to BBQ this winter. Moved a bunch of stuff to my SUV for donation (toys/sports stuff /kitchen ware etc) Will continue on it tonight after work.
I went for a walk last night around 730 and boy did it get dark and cold quick! I should have put on my fuzzy hat and mitts like I thought about. Regardless I pushed myself and did my route. I was really exhausted at the end of the day. Which actually felt good.
Now to get this work day out of the way and get out there and enjoy the sunshine :)
Just came in did 2 loads of laundry ,blankets all hanging out on this beautifull day .Hubby washed the car and vacuumed.
I trimmed back all my front bushes and day lilies .
After 9:30am, I got cracking on my Voila order (delivery fee is halved for late afternoon or evening the next day; no open times for today) and donated $25 to the dinner program. All went well! I will make a chai latte in the Keurig unit tomorrow after the delivery arrives! I looked at ECS Coffee's site-there are two or three chai lattes in boxes. Don't know what open stock pods are going for (might be time for a walk to check that out to see if any other brand's latte is different-noticed most are using sugar/sucralose for sweetness). I often miss the mix and match open stock events.
Have some laundry out on the lines. Gave the other shower curtain a sudsy wash and rinse and it too is on the outdoor line. Will put it away in the vanity drawer for likely use when the new one gets ruined.
Decided to look at the yummy coloured apparel and accessories on sale and in for fall/winter at Lord's Shoes in BC. My, what sock and hat (rose gold sequinned hat-I'd remove that pompom) temptations exist-seriously am considering two pairs of socks for the Oct. 14 tax credit purchase. I see two dresses on sale (for next summer) that Mom needs to consider but she's not quick to shop...love some of the summer slides on sale except for the lugged soles. Sigh I need a credit card. @Angela273 Lord's Shoes and Apparel has about 10 pairs of patterned compression socks (knee high or calf height) by Bleu Foret or Sockwell. $45 per pair (ouch) but thought you might like to consider any for colder weather wear under pants. https://www.lordsshoes.ca/collections/slippers Check all pages (2 prs of socks don't have images).
Ladies, have you spotted a 1/2" navy belt (oval or rectangular buckle, goldtone preferred) online anywear? Could use some store hints. Have already done the Bay, Rickis, Reitmans, Simons and Nordstrom.ca sites. Not wanting anything over $30 (so no "designer" stuff). Will check Zara and H&M sites soon.
Hoping today's mail has decent admail and the voter cards. Right now, I need to make a cup of tea (#2)! It's marvellous in the sun but there's a touch of ice in the air.
Dont forgot to save yours 4 favorites pc offers since it is wednesday if you dont plan to go shopping today .I just did mine :)
Very rough week up to date for me
have to push it trought and make the best of efforts for it!!
have a good evening and night ;)
Just had my dinner. (my lunch I didn't eat) It was a fend for yourself night.
Will give the fridge a once over tomorrow and see what we can come up with for dinner.
I have never had this happen but it was a nice surprise. I was waiting on checkout 51 to fix an issue and happen to notice the yogurt offer was back, I bought 3 pumpkin yogurts last night and the offer was gone when I went to submit. So I just added another 3.30 to my account and as soon as it’s approved I will cash out.
I was also able to take advantage of samplesource for the 1st time in likely 2 yrs. I got 9 offers. Yay.
Just finished on the treadmill :) Feeling so good finally! Cutting dairy/bread etc has helped 100%.
The overgrown shrubs/trees were trimmed yesterday. It was so bad I couldn't see out the window to the street from the dining room (my office) Now I feel like I'm in a fish bowl. No more working in a towel straight from the shower lol
I have had a few actual headaches this week. Also one headache called "family." Need remedies-hoping the chai latte later in the day will help!
Laundry on the go. Did a walk around the house to check on loose siding corners (there were a few) and sweep off dead things and spiderwebs from the underside of siding.
Plan to get my comforter into the washer today and use some sunshine to partially dry it while the weather still is warm and dry (though I did see rain forecast for Oakville today-could be same for Hamilton). :whoo:
Still waiting for weekly paper and flyers. Glad I looked at the flyer previews posted on the forum yesterday! Just need to get through each day... Had a light breakfast but am still needing some carbs-time for a milky tea to the rescue.
Yay-despite the lack of milky froth, the scent of Twinings Chai Latte was appreciated! So nice, I made the mug-size (not the large mug) one twice. Lunch was 4 of the Pillers Turkey honey garlic sticks. I'll probably have the remaining 8 cups enjoyed by Monday, because I love this beverage.
Did get some rain drops around noon-got out to gather my laundry. Rain stopped. Glad I put Bro's laundry into dryer when it was done, not outside (too many pieces).
Community paper bundle was spotted after 12pm but only got to read things around 3pm.
Kind of cool outside. Will wait for a sunnier day to wash my comforter.
Inspired by @Frugalbigmama 's recent fridge toss (food cleanup, not actual fridge pitching-we need a stick figure gif tossing a small fridge!), I used the home-alone time (almost 1-1/2 hr) to give the fridge its semi-annual vac and clean attention. Managed to pop off lower grill and get some more dust off. One of the back cardboard vents on the fridge was rather clogged with dust due to the humid summer. Discovered I could lift the front edge of crisper bar to wipe down the front ledges. Did see a pool of liquid in the shallow rectangle under the crisper bins. Guessing the one crisper generated a lot of condensation on the root veg slider setting thus water. Could not see any leaks in the upper fridge. Did spot one split shelf-one of the two clips on a bracket were not in the rack slot. Must have bumped up the shelf when a tall or bulky item was being removed from shelf below. Glad to have noticed the slip. Wiped down all surfaces with rubbing alcohol. Microfibre towel was perfect for wiping out the washed crisper bins!
Barely 20min later, two robocalls came (for Bro and one from mayoral candidate) and third call was for grocery delivery but I did not answer. Truck showed up 30sec after family came home! There was a trainee with the driver so I waved hi and said thank you at the back door.
Still no voter cards and no mail!
Flyer deals!
My eyes want the $11.99 Hershey/Twizzlers/Jolly Ranchers box of treats. For me! I will pop into CT on my way to Giant Tiger to check out candy boxes (browsing, not buying yet).
Giant Tiger-new flyer FINALLY has winter coats featured! Ladies Mountain Ridge faux fur hooded parka with storm flap and zipper or Lily Morgan Fashion parka (zipper only) at $95. VIP members_there's a two week Save $10 wus $60 on women's/men's/children's clothing footwear and accessories offer! It expires on Oct. 18! If you waiting for the CAI tax credit on Oct. 14, you can still use this offer then!
Also those men's leather gloves I loved last winter are back at $15/pr (men's and ladies-in-store only). Also gripper gloves at $12/pr (men's and ladies'-in-store only). If you can't fit in the small/med/lg gloves at Walmart, you might be able to do ok with GT gloves!
I intend to visit my store to try on coats. If I like one, I plan to get it and use my existing coat as a lap blanket or basement coat while Internetting to keep warm. Mom can inherit the new parka afterwards (she has not yet complained that I tossed her old ragged (lining and interlining were shredded from years of wear) wool coat but she definitely has complained about anything else I tossed out. She does not get the serenity from being free of clutter vibe YET.)
Party City stores Oct 7 & 8, 2022
Bonus CT e-money days
20X Triangle Rewards points card
30X Triangle Rewards MC
Also same points offers at participating Canadian Tire stores on SELECT Party City merchandise and at canadiantire.ca including balloons, party decor, and party favours/tableware/bakeware. Oct 7&8 only.
I have recently discovered Telus' Call Control function/feature and enabled it. I am happy to find that it works well and prevents all manner of robo-calls by forcing the caller to enter a randomly generated number between 0-9 for each call. If your provider is Telus, you might want to investigate this feature. It is quite helpful.
We have a Bell landline, that once failed to work (used Bro's cell phone to call in outage report) during a hydro outage this summer. Since we don't subscribe to any Call Services (they got too pricey years ago), we usually let calls go to the answering machine (which needs replacement as the 4 portable handsets are all toast (can't change the message) so 5th ring means calls go to machine). It'd be nice to be able to screen calls before picking up without paying for Caller ID.
