Oh yes cath what hasnt gone up .My washer is hanging in there it is 12 years old and makes some noise ,i will wait til it goes .There is $899 to 999 in price .

On the other hand my fridge is 26 years old frigidaire .wow!!

Good Morning and Happy Monday!

Started my work day earlier so I can shut down early and enjoy the sunshine. Went through all my emails and dealt with the things I could at the moment and now I can start at the top and work my way down.

On Friday morning went to Food Basics to get a few things to get us through the weekend (buns etc) Found the steak in the flyer marked even cheaper. Grabbed 3 trays and then found the Lean ground beef from sale before with sale price still and 40% off so grabbed 2 trays of that.
Cooked some steak strips to go with dinner (salad) and made one tray of beef into burger patties. Wrapped the rest for the freezer for future meals.

This morning- took a large package of BLSL chicken breast out of the freezer. Will bbq it later this afternoon. Will figure out the sides later once I clean out the fridge and plan what we have to use up.

My massage therapist texted me this morning saying she had a cancelation this afternoon and if I would like the appointment. Yes please! I was just thinking last night I needed to message her this week to make an appointment.

The heat last week- Thursday morning we went kayaking (early). 2.5 hours later on our way back I was so hot and tired. The heat was getting to me and I felt off that afternoon. Thank goodness I felt better that evening.

Popped into our Farmers' Market yesterday morning (they have a new location) it was raining but brought an umbrella. Bought fresh peas in the pod. Will munch on those this afternoon. I may splurge on the fancy bread next time my friend loves from there ( I want it but I don't want to eat it all....but mmmm fresh bread yum!!)

Have lots of things I want to get done this week. Wrote out a list this morning and will try and tackle most of it early in the week.
Excited for the long weekend! I can't believe it is the end of June already. Hope the weather is great this week and weekend!

The heat last week really got to my DH at his work. Physical jobs take their toll, especially on the older workers ( tee hee ) . Seems like we're getting more of the same.
This is great for me to do some grounding out in the backyard as I control the time I spend out there and then duck back inside to the A/C. Lots of cooked foods in the
fridge for the guys to choose their work meals from. I went for a BLT this a.m. toasting up the last 2 slices of Cobbs sour dough.
No shopping for anything today, not even gas! A frugal Monday.

DH went shopping this morning to purchase the after school care snacks. Wed is the last day so he bought ice cream sandwiches and watermelon-normally we serve pretty healthy snacks so I am sure the kids will love it.

Finally went to the mailbox on way home from massage. Tons of sale flyers from weeks prior.... and many letters from Simplii financial advising of promo ending....for each account! What a waste.

Lunch was 1/2 box Annie's shells and a handful of fresh pea pods. Tomorrow will be round #2.

I really need to do my laundry from being away last week but thinking I will put it off till tomorrow. Will aim to put it in the washer first thing in the morning so I can hang it to dry as soon as it is finished.

Kitchen is clean (dishes drying on counter) I put the BLSL chicken in the fridge to thaw (in covered container) We may make that tomorrow nights dinner plan. Just not feeling it for tonight. I also need to give the fridge a complete clean out before I go shopping so putting that off till tomorrow too since I have no intention of shopping tonight. It feels like a Monday for sure!!

I took a vacation day today and had a huge list of stuff to do. I need a vacation from the vacation😂. I only work 3 days this week and man is my schedule packed.

Found a couple of rusty 2019 cans next to a bridge. They look like cans of tuna or salmon. Their integrity hasn't been breached, so I'll open them and give them a taste. Just hope that they don't turn out to be cat food.

Well so windy ,a big branch of a maple tree my neighbour up the back cracked off and of course it fell in our yard.Hubby and i are chopping it up ,but took a break as its still windy.

I treated myself to a pair of sterling silver hoops at winners 19.99 .

Then utilized the 10 and 5 % back on toilet paper at canadian tire i got .77 cents off.

As frugal a day as I can. After physio my outside adventure was to drive to a laundromat to wash and dry my QS heavy very soft ( almost furry! ) blanket.
I also took every pillow case including the inside covers as well, plus the cover from my giant body pillow. First had to hit the bank to get Toonies, loonies
and quarters because who knows what the payment is now. I crammed it all into 1 very giant washer, tossed in 4 Gain pods (cost $7.50 ).
Drying was $2.00 and it gave me 40 minutes.
Putting it back on the bed and the pillows in 6 cases ( especially the body pillow ) took patience. Once everything was in place I ate lunch and downed 2
bottles of cranberry flavoured water ( ice cold ).

I promised the therapist I would do a minimum 20 minute walk around the walking path today OR tomorrow. It's gonna be tomorrow. Sadly I am kind
of beat.

Yesterday Dh and I went to the gym and did a hard workout. We signed up for a full gym due to wanting and needing access to a variety of equipment. It’s well worth the investment since it’s a block away from our place. I already used it this morning and plan to come back tonight after Dh is home from work and I’m back from physio.

I think I’m going to be cleared for running again . So far the pain is 99% gone so fingers crossed.

We had a meeting with our financial advisor yesterday and it went amazingly well. We’re in a much better position than we thought (which was still really good). Retirement, although not for a long time, is not looking quite so scary. He has advised us with the best outcomes, we’ve made some significant changes to our financial management over the last several years and it shows.

PM’d blueberries and strawberries and Cliff bars at NF to save on sale prices. Nothing else was needed as we are fully stocked but I’m loving my fresh berries in my oatmeal.

Retirement, although not for a long time, is not looking quite so scary. He has advised us with the best outcomes, we’ve made some significant changes to our financial management over the last several years and it shows.

My brother gave told me about a very, very rough rule of thumb measurement. He takes his current saved wealth and divides it by his annual expenditures to find the number of years he expects his money to last. This presumes that portfolio growth = inflation. So, it is a very rough estimate. According to his method, I should have enough to last until 110 yrs old; probably enough.

Happy Wednesday! Looks like cooler weather (14/15) this week. A break from last week is welcomed by many I am sure.
Hope the weather is nice for the long weekend.... We need a beach day!

Started my morning off with chores- Laundry on the go (DS needed a load done so I did his yesterday to be nice...folded it on his bed for him to put away.
Will hang up my stuff to dry. Have a tray of sliced peameal in the oven (for the boys to make egg/cheese/peameal on a bun) Bought a large pack of kaiser buns (18 pk I think it is) yesterday.

Waiting till tomorrow morning to go shopping- FB first thing so I can get the boys sausage and burger patties/romaine/strawberries etc. Then will be set for the long weekend. So will clean out the fridge today. Will move everything out and give it a good clean.
Still some BLSL chicken breasts in there so that will be used up for dinner.
Will make an omelette for my breakfast/lunch since we have mushrooms/peppers/onion to use up. Will chop up all the peppers but one and toss them in the freezer for future use.

I woke up to a beautiful day, sunshine, a nice breeze, birds chirping....and it's a morning filled with sadness...our pet hamster passed last night. RIP

We got him almost 3 years ago and at the time, I never thought I would be a hamster mom. Our little peanut stole our hearts, he helped my son through a really difficult time and he had such a personality. He was so cuddly and kissable, had a bit of a teenage attitude and was hilarious. He will be greatly missed.

Such a sad day and still need to get things done - groceries, laundry, work....funny how life keeps rolling on. I hope everyone enjoys their day and remembers to embrace each day, smell the warmth and sunshine in the air and fully live in the moment.

Georgia-sorry to hear about your hamster ,my son bought the girls one around easter .

Still chopping up smaller branches for garbage pick up and leaf pickup on friday .

My son asked us if we wanted to trim his shrubs out the front of his house ,so we will ,when we pick up the girls today .May take them to McDonalds for a supper treat -none for me thou .I am on a journey i have lost 10 pounds this past month giving up all the bad treats chips,ice cream ,cookies ,chocolate.

For a treat i will grab hot foods chicken breast with a side at fortinos for hubby and i.
