Think of it in a more positive light. I believe that kind people are always surprised when they receive an affront, because they never or rarely think in unkind terms. We just can't believe that others would deliberately behave rudely or in an ill manner, because we would not do the same. So, when it happens, we rarely have a quick reply. We have to actively think about how to be rude in return.

I think that some may be more quick-witted with their retorts because they run scenarios in their heads beforehand. The first response tells a great deal. For example, when surprised, truly kind-hearted people smile at strangers as their first reaction. It's just who they are.

When asked a question, most honest people inherently tell the truth, because they need to actively think about whether or not they should lie, while those who practice in deceit just do what they normally do.

It seems illogical that a restaurant server, who depends on the goodwill of customers, would go out of her way to say something to offend.

Tiny possibility that food server had something lousy come their way prior to harbie or was perhaps bored/jealous/having bad day. If the server had caught herself and apologized, realizing she was creating an unwelcome eating experience, that would have acknowledged how she had made everything awkward.
Many places that offer services along with goods fail to realize or train staff to acknowledge when a situation is bad or awkward for their customers. Or how to respond when customers do not acknowledge stsff.

Rare afternoon yesterday when I had kitchen to myself. About time I was thinking to put batter one into fridge to bake at night when it is cooler, I took chance to bake the cake instead. A good breeze coming through windows made the effort worthwhile. Made a quick loaf batter and had it in the oven after I took out the cake, as both goodies had same baking temperature. Next time I make a plum cake, I'll leave the slicing and pitting for just before batter is combined with dry ingredients. The plum pieces were oxidizing rapidly in the heat after preparing pan and adding the sugar and plums.

Giant Tiger's VIP offer is $10 off wus $60 or more in certain depts including clothing, footwear and accesories that is good until Sept.10. I was hoping to see this offer surface. I anticipate the offer will also appear in October.

    Good Morning Everyone,
Up and trying to get all of the things done but not feeling my best today. I woke up with a headache and it has gone full blown sinuses but I am trying to ignore it and get all the things done.

Yesterday I attended a BBQ at one of our locations and had a virtual meeting. Once my work day was done I decided to go to Costco hoping it wouldn't be too insane. Boy was I wrong, it was chaos there, it started in the parking lot and did not end until I left. I get there I find a parking spot, people won't even let me back in, I go in the store and it is busy, I come back out and I did not think I have ever heard that much honking and yelling in a parking lot.

Also, it was odd how many people were just standing in front of displays with their carts, they weren't look at the product just standing there. I cannot count how many times I had to say "excuse me, can I just grab that product behind," but the number of people who either did not move or looked at me like "excuse me, you want me to move." It was weird.

But I got everything we needed the sales change next week so I will probably be back before I know it.

Not sure if I will grocery shop this week, I see some things I want to grab but we will see how I feel, I am doing everything I can to knock out this sinus stuff so fingers-crossed, already feeling a bit better but it causing a cough which I do not like.

    Happy Thursday Everyone.

Happy Thursday! Cool start to the day but I am sure it will warm up. (had to drop DS off early this morning)
Thankful he should have his new to him car on the road this afternoon! (glad to help him out but feel like I put my life on hold being available to drive him when needed)

Enjoyed my 5 day weekend. Stayed close to home. Tuesday went to visit my mom and took her to Costco. Then we went to dinner with my sister and brother-in-law. (My niece is away with a friend on a RV trip) So nice for them to be kid-less for a few days.

Working 1.5 days then the 3 day weekend!

There hasn't been much cooking going on here. We have food and everyone has been fending for themselves lately.
With September on us I will meal prep/cook more during the week to last us a few days. I did bring them home beef dip sandwiches with fries on Tuesday night that they ate Wednesday so they aren't starving!

Today- Put away clean laundry. Sort and put on a load of laundry and follow through to the end! (wash/dry and put away!)
Make breakfast and then clean up kitchen.
    Clean out fridge.
Tidy up car (organize shopping bins/toss old flyers/coupons etc)
    Putter in the garage!

Will try and get lots of house things done later today so we can just enjoy the weekend. Hoping to get out hiking and kayaking and a beach day!

    Have a wonderful day!

Just spent under $40 at Food Basics
    2 x walnuts
    2 x pepperettes
    coffee cream
    sour dough bread
muffins ( for DS- I haven't bought them for him for a long while)
    2 x ice cream treats
10lb bag of potatoes (thinking a crockpot roast with mashed potatoes and veggies one night next week!)
    I think that was it.

I cleaned out the fridge this morning and it was nice and empty. We didn't really need much and I didn't buy any fruit since we have stuff that needs to be eaten 1st. So I will shop after the weekend for fruit/fresh stuff is needed. Just wanted to have the bread etc for DS for sandwiches (he is the sandwich eater- we are stocked up on sandwich meat/cheese and lettuce!)

    Working nonstop, got another client

Went to a celebration of life for my client who passed from Alzheimer’s

Dh and I had a great trip up to my hairdressers

Earned 4400 SDM points with ELF cosmetics

Deep cleaned the bathroom and kitchen this morning

Did 4 loads of laundry so far….

Deep cleaned my parents place ( they’re in their 80’s and my mom has macular and now glaucoma ).

I’m going to vacuum and then I’m done.

Dh and I are going for a ride when he gets home and it cools off a bit.

Good Morning and TGIF!! Had a hard time getting up today. Probably because I picked up DS late last night and then had trouble falling asleep.
Regardless, it is Friday!! We close the office early on the Friday before long weekends so that is a nice way to start the long weekend.

I should make some coffee to wake up.

Wishing everyone a fun and safe long weekend!

The Sept. Issue of Costco Connections came in yesterday's mail. Executive members' coupon pages include one coupon for their Kirkland laundry detergent (valid Sept 2-15), which I have already clipped out for Bro to use on future visit. Costco Optical now has donation boxes collecting eyewear from members on behalf of VOSH, who redistributes them to people needing eyewear. Found a full page ad for United Colors of Benetton clothing near front of magazine. Surprised to see it as Simons is the official Cdn retailer for brand unless warehouse line is specific to Costco and the brand figured out that. Noticed several books too. Costco is going to stop selling books in early 2025, so any desired titles ought to be purchased if they are on anyone's reading or gift lists. BTW, magazine showed three double printed rolls for gift wrapping...

Banana bread and plum cake both had hard surfaces after baking. Need to determine how to avoid that next time. They are ideal for quick snacks or breakfast, like on today's muggy morning. Have my last frozen concentrate mix in a pitcher. Need a couple more so I will find deals.

Have to peek at Rexall and SDM flyers for any gift card promos (not many this week in flyers).

The Deal Guy's Ikea(US) video had a couple of interesting items that I have seen posted on the Cdn Ikea site: wire frame chair phone holder and the elongated rimmed shoe tray in charcoal gray or bright yellow with that studded top of building bricks texture).

Expect Labour Day shipping or sale promos online. September thread has been posted. Last weekend to visit the CNE.

Last night, my phone got a voicemail from an area 672 caller who was speaking one of the Chinese languages. I did not know 672 is one of British Columbia's area codes. First phone call since I obtained my 365 cellular phone number.
