Do You Have Days You Want to Give up Couponing?

Do you have days that you just want to quit couponing?!

I'm having one of those today. Headed to my local WM which up until the past couple weeks, I have had very little trouble with. Today, I had a couple printed flyers with me. The cashier checked with a supervisor because the date wasn't printed on it...which I can't get my new printer to do, or at least can't figure it out. I understand they want to know the date, but printing the front page doesn't make much sense, because I can print a flyer page from a month ago, stick today's front page of a flyer on it and they wouldn't know the difference. And my WM has never had a problem with just accepting the printed page before. So the supervisor was very rude when I said to her, not all the pages of the flyer have the date on it. She snapped that the front and back do. So I drove all the way home, printed the first page off of the flyers and headed back. Went to a different cashier, because she had no one in line. She didn't even care about looking at the date or the front page of the flyer. She just wanted to see the price of the item. Ok, so I thought, we are all good now. Nope, she wouldn't take my $5 off coupon for the Scrubbing Bubbles Starter Kit Toliet Cleaner AND the b1 starter kit and g1 free refill. She said I had to buy two starters kits to use both coupons. I argued that I was buying two products with two different coupons and there was nothing that stated I couldn't. She wouldn't take both, so I told her I didn't want either. So then I thought, well, I will try Zellers. Never PM there before as I hate my Zellers and try to avoid it. Well, they have a shelve full of the starter kits and not one refill I ask if they have any in the back, which they don't. As I'm leaving, I see AirWick Freshmatics on for $5.99. In the chaos of coming back home to print off flyers, I left my binder at home. So now if I want them, I have to drive back Not to mentioned, I drove by FB's twice and forgot to run in and pick up some dog food that was on sale that I have a couple coupons for.

To add to my frustration, when the $6 coupon was out for Finish QuanTumatic Starter Kit, I couldn't find a single one anywhere and my coupons got tossed in the trash. Today I found them for $5 on clearance at SDM and the refills for $2 Still a great deal, but still stings, lol.

It's days like this that make me wonder if it's worth it.

What was your day(s) like that made you say, "I've had enough!"

Sorry you've had a hard time... I see you're in Ontario (non-stacking), I've found that most stores where you can't stack won't let you combine coupons like the Scrubbing Bubbles either. I ran into the same problem with the 2$WUB2 Ziploc, I wanted to used the B3G1 Ziploc at the same time and was refused at 2 stores. And believe me, I stood there debating my case with the mgr and cashiers. (My boyfriend says I have "lawyerly" blood )

But I say don't give up, go find your stockpile, have a look at it and SMILE... that's what coupons and smart shopping got you

oh leda, I hear your pain, the aggravation involved can get the old blood pressure up.
Sometimes I feel the stores job is to deny as much as possible to discourage us from trying next time. Try not to give up, just remember there are so many great deals just about to come around, hopefully you score big and then I want to read about it in the brag!

OP, I think you have said that you are in a small town. They seem to know that the choices are rare, so they can get away with stupid stuff.

Hope you can travel to a bigger city once a month or so to get better service, better deals, better employees.

Some cashiers don't get paid much. Some don't want to be there. Some were told by mom and dad, "Get a job". I use to work with some. One tried to punch in, watch her Mom out the window, sneak out the door, take off her uniform, and join her friends hiding outside. Mom called at her break time and found out that the cashier was AWOL.


Just go to another cashier. Scope out your favourites. I have had success that way.

The Scarborough RCSS will not use their coupon and a man. coupon today!!! Last I did it twice there!! The cash manager came and said they have never done that!!! I swear I was going to lose it on someone!! I just wanted to throw out all my coupons!! I went to steeles and mkm rd Walmart to find out their policy about pm ing coupon zone coupons...they will only take them as a coupon!!! So I can't us a man. coupon with them!!! Man I am 0 for 0 today!!!! I now remember why I stopped couponing for 2 years!!

Sadly my favourites weren't working this morning

I do live in a small town. I'm from Toronto, so I miss the options! We make it up to Ottawa from time to time to do some shopping. I'm just really suprised by this WM lately. It was so easy going before. Maybe too many people are abusing them!

leda don't give up and yes i've had those moments. i had two weeks last summer after my FIL died I literally was ready to call it quits. nothing else mattered. took a break for the summer. and slowly got back into it in September and little by little im back full on. I still have days where its like Y.. but then the next deal comes along quite quickly that Im so happy to be a part of and gives me the incentive to keep going. of late i've learned smile, be friendly, polite and most of the time it goes well.

I think that we have all had days when the best laid plans go off track because cashiers give us a hard time. I have one cashier at WM that I avoid like the plague. She always gives me such a hard time with my coupons that I just switch lanes, even if I have to wait longer. Not worth the trouble.

As well I've heard about people using CZ coupons with MFR coupons at the same time at WM and neither of mine will do this either since its stacking, and stacking isn't allowed.

It just depends on the store.

If my WM didn't accept printed flyers, I wouldn't be left with much to PM from. WM is suppose to PM within a certain distance of it's location and people are not often delivered flyers to stores that far away, so I think if WM is going to allow PM'ing within X amount of kms, then they need to allow printed flyers. I'm allowed to PM Ottawa, which is far enough away that I don't get any flyers from that area, so printed flyers are the only way that I can, short of driving up there to get them, which obviously defeats the point, lol.

Personally, I haven't heard of anyone using CZ and manafacturers....I know for sure my WM wouldn't allow that.

I'm just frustrated because I don't see how using two coupons on two different products is stacking. They should allow a $ amount coupon on one item and a b1g1 coupon on the 2nd. I'm still buying the first product. If Scubbing Bubbles only intended one of those coupons to be used, then wouldn't that be excluding anyone with only one toliet in the house? You would only need one starter kit in that case and therefore would have to choose which coupon to use. I have never had trouble using coupons in this manner before. It's like using the $ off coupons for Rice Krispies and then using the b1 cereal g1 squares coupons. Doesn't make sense not to be allowed to use both
