So for those of you that buy music off iTunes or other websites, DONT! There are many FREE websites out there that you can use. I use clipcoverter. Its free, and you can just covert the files online so you dont need to download the program. It literally takes one minute. You just paste the youtube link, and then you can drag it into iTunes, or whatever. What other website do you guys use?
Here's the link:

piratebay. I was using FrostWire til it went down but I've been told it's still up, anyone know for sure?
I am currently looking for coupons for non parishable foods or grocery coupons good until December to help with Christmas food helpers.
If you have any to trade please PM me.

It's still up.
But you have to watch what links you choose once you do a search.
some of the links are listed as the song title you want, but when you download it it's just a message saying:
due to the court order blah blah blah...I can't remember the rest of the message. Something about winning a prize.
And looking at the time length of the song you pick won't help. The message just keeps repeating over & over for the length of the song.
I always do a preview before committing to the download then just cancel it if it's that message.

Oh is that what they're doing now?
it used to be so easy to bypass that crap by skipping past the 73kb files.
Oh well that's usually just on newer songs which suck anyways, & I can still get new ones from Pirate Bay usuallyI am currently looking for coupons for non parishable foods or grocery coupons good until December to help with Christmas food helpers.

in canada, you can only be in legal trouble if you upload (if i remember correctly).
technically, downloading using bittorrent or p2p programs is illegal since you upload as you download but the authorities probably won't pursue anyone for it. this is more of a moral dilemma than a legal one.

In Canada, it's legal to download, but illegal to upload. Simply disable the upload function on your bit torrent program. I use uTorrent and do not upload.
I know people who have not "paid" for content in over a decade!
Talk about savings!

We use Piratebay as well...just read the description, and turn off the upload feature!

I used real player to download the videos off youtube, then convert to mp3 for a while. Recently it's been giving me an error message (no codecs, or something to that effect.)
it worked so well for so long.

I suppose the moral argument is that the people who create these works aren't getting 'paid' for it. I suppose it's all in good for big pop stars who make millions from advertisement gigs and outrageously priced concerts, but I still like to support my favorite indie artists...

It's really hard to say whether downloading is really legal or not. Technically the Private Copying exemption allows for this, but Computers have not been certified as mediums, and the Supreme Court explicitly stated that they weren't. Downloading was briefly legal for a short time in 2004-2005, but now it's just a grey area.

It will be a moot point soon enough, as the Government is pushing through Bill C-11, despite a glaring amount of anti-consumer issues that the designers of the bill have chosen to consciously ignore. Agreed. Of course the irony is that almost all Artists make very little money from CD sales, and get the bulk of their income from touring and other merchandise.
I don't feel any sympathy for the Labels regardless. They have already been fined hundreds of millions of dollars for Piracy and Royalty theft, and many artists have had their works blatantly stolen and they can't afford to fight the system due to legal costs. I strongly suggest avoiding using Pirate Bay. Any Public Torrent tracker is monitored by the Major Record Labels, and just because it's technically 'legal' doesn't necessarily mean that you can't get sued.Last edited by Aslan; Tue, Mar 20th, 2012 at 01:12 PM.
