The older I get and the longer I spend in school I seem to learn not only about my chosen path but also about humanity. The more I interact with people, the more I listen and apply my knowledge the more I learn. It depresses me knowing how similar we all seem in nature. While we may have a difference of opinion, style and abilities to the core we are all generally the same. In our western culture our way of living, working and communicating our general beliefs on what is right and wrong do not vary all that much. Life is based on this assumption. For instance my school assignments are based on the idea that generation y is dependent on group work. Most of us work 9-5 jobs with weekends off and most of that tends to be downtown. What I don’t understand is what caused us to all be so similar? Even our dress seems to not vary. There are expectations of behaviour for various aspects of life. How did we come to the decision that this is how we are to behave? Why is our society the way it is? Why do younger people enjoy going out on the weekends partying and why are we social? I am not anything as described above I am not a social person I do not want to have a typical job, I hate with a passion group work as I am very independent. What happened to us as a collective to switch from preferring independents to group work? Why do a lot of us abuse privileges until more control is put into place? Why do some of us have dark sides that can’t be controlled?
