I went to the giant tiger today at springbank and kernohan, as i was in the area and wanted to use a few coupons b4 they expired. I used a websaver coupon for a b1g1 free fantastic bottle and than another one for the glade expressions thing also for free. well they wouldnt let me use both because they claimed it was one per purchase per customer meaning i had to go back on a different day to use the other coupon. which is so stupid and completly wrong. I hate using coupons at giant tiger because every time there is a issue with something. The last time i went they had a promotion where you buy a chapmans frz yogurt and get frozen yogurt bars for free and i had had a coupon for 5$ off so i thought i would have gotten it for free. But they said i couldnt use it with that promotion, and that time i did complain to the store manager and managed to get the coupon accepted and get the offer. But this time i did not fight it. It just seems so pointless to fight over it and have them treat me like crap over a coupon. Has anyone else ever had any issues with giant tiger?

i must be lucky with my GT in Barrie. a while ago, they were letting me use my $1 off scrubbing bubbles WITH the BOGO scrubbing bubbles product! in fact, they took anything i threw at them! it was a shame when i moved to the other side of town, i dont go as often anymore

its too bad about your experience. its sounds rediculous what they said????if at first you don't succeed, do it the way your wife told you...

I've rarely had a problem at GT. I suspect its more the cashiers either not knowing the policies or more than likely just not liking couponers and not the store itself. It might be worth a letter to head office or at least a phone call to talk to the store manager to get clarification on what their coupon policy is... Dropping a managers name usually shuts a disgruntled cashier up quick!

I usually go to the GT just south of Southdale, just north of White Oaks and they always take my coupons there. Not sure why they treated you like that - sounds like the cashier needs some training. Sorry you had such a bad experience. I hate it when that happens, it really ruins the "coupon high" when you try to get a really good deal and they deny it for no good reason.

Sheesh - well, as I've learned, you just vote with your feet and take your business to a different store.

I don't shop at giant tiger very often, but the few times I have, there hasn't been any issues with coupons. I don't mind so much with them not wanting to take my coupon, I've found it's not worth an arguement, but what I really don't like to see is when the cashier has an issue with you for trying to use it and starts to do the eye rolling, or to give attitude. It's not nice, and certainly not necessary. I think if you could call HO, and get clarity from them, and get their name. Next time, you could simply say...."I have had this discussion with Giant Tiger clerks before so I called HO and spoke with >>>> I was advised that in fact I can ......... If you are not sure of your policy, I don't mind waiting while you call and confirm the fact. Then hand them the phone number to HO. I would think that should stop any further doubt. You could even say something nice like ....... "Now that I know you are familiar with the Giant Tiger coupon policy, next time I'm in, I will look for you at the cash to make my transaction easier. Have a great day! "
Life is to short to argue. Lets kill them with kindness

I would agree that this is far more likely to be an individual cashier problem than a store or corporate problem.
I always try to allow for extra time when using coupons, in case of issues like these.
Please consider phoning the store and speak to a manager, so as to fix this problem for other customers.TRADING COUPONS: FOOD, DENTAL, SOAP / BODY WASH/DEODORANT, SPECIAL CREAMS, MAKEUP, HEALTH, AIR FRESHNERS, HAIRCOLOUR, CLEANING, HAIRCARE/ SHAMPOO, DIAPERS, SHAVING, PET, MEDICINE,LAUNDRY, STORES, LONDON BUSINESSES, FAST FOOD, BATTERYPRODUCTS, CHILDREN FOOD and TOY, SMOKING CESSATION and lots more !!
