I went to M&M this morning to use one of the $5 vouchers I got from the Canadian Tire scratch card promo. I bought a cheesecake for $6.99, and paid the $1.99 after using the voucher. I know a number of SC'ers said on these forums that they were able to use more than 1 voucher, but in separate transactions. Well, this cashier wouldn't let me. No prob, I just headed to another store near my house.

Well I get to the next store, and I wanted to buy frozen yogurt which was on sale 2 tubs for $5. So it should be free right? Nooooo, this store's cashier told me I had to spend more because the coupon wouldn't work. Never heard of that one. I even read of others here saying they got the ice cream for free with the voucher. Ok... so I said I'd buy the lemon blueberry tart which was on sale for $5.99. Nope, he said the voucher still wouldn't go through because it's not enough and I'd have to spend more. I looked at the coupon and read the fine print. No minimum spend required.

So I asked, what is the minimum I'd need to spend to use this? He said 'oh, I think it's $6.75.' I laughed and told him other stores were accepting them and left the store.

Oh well. The voucher expires today so I'll just go back to the 1st store and have my husband use it tonight. But seriously, how annoying is that!?

LOL, really? I used mine last week and I was concerned that my store would try to make up a minimum purchase rule. I bought a large bag of oven fries for $5.99 and I only had to pay .99, there wasn't even any tax. The cashier was nice about it too. That is always a bonus!

I wanted to buy a cheesecake for $ 6.99 and use $5 coupon, they wouldn't let me because cheesecake is on sale.
Cashier told me that coupon cannot be used when purchasing sale items because it says on the card "cannot be combined with any other offer" and sale considers as an offer

I used my last coupon today on onion rings, 5.99 with loyalty card and paid 49 cents. Last time I bought onion rings and other stuff on different transactions, they wouldn't scan the loyalty card for each transaction, only on first one because then they would get in trouble. Huh? So I paid 99 cents on onion rings 2 weeks ago.

If you don't have a loyalty card, get one for CT next promotion.

I ended up going again last night to a 3rd different store and had no problems using the coupon. I bought a jar of roasted red peppers for 3.99 and seafood sauce for 2.19 and paid 1.18 OOP.
Lucky for me I live in Toronto and there are lots of M&M stores I can choose from. I really feel for people who live in smaller areas and only have one store. If they give you hassles you're out of luck!

If you live in Toronto and you have a coupon that's a few cents under e.g., $5 coupon for a 5$ item but you have to spend more than 5$ to get the deal, just buy a bag for 5 cents.

This will get you over the minimum. I've done this in the past and when the situation has arisen, and it has worked.

Wow, I take it even showing the cashier the wording on the coupon didn't help huh? Sometimes there is just no reasoning with cashiers.
