Metro & moi: How worth it is it?

I used to always go to IGA to do my grocery. Even if it's pricier, I love the service, speak with the butcher or person at the fish section and just the general feeling went I go there. Plus, they give me Air Miles (I know that Air Miles have less value that it used to when I first started). But since I join SC, I became a big cheater. I discover the fabulous "pink stickers" at Maxi, Loblaws and Provigo, the points at Pharmaprix, the scratch card at CT and price matching at Maxi, Zellers and Walmart. But still, I love having a good service and talk with the "specialists". Lately, after following some of your post and also because of the Dare MIR, I finally decide to go visit Metro and took my Metro & moi card. Now, I'm trying to figure out how much is it worth it.

I know that the best thing is to use all the FPC at Metro (Ontest has mention this a lot! See I'm learning!)

If I don't get a lot of points every 3 months, what happen? Do I get the points but can't do anything with it?
Do my points "reset" every 3 months?
If a get a reward, is there a minimum I need to spend to receive the rewards?
Is the 3 months period are: Jan-Fev-March, April-May-June, July-Aug-Sept, Oct-Nov-Dec?

I have no clue, I never shop there unless I am coupon hunting then I pick up bananas or something. I have a card but got nothing yet.

I use my FPC at Métro and hunt coupon at Métro (my métro is my best spot forcoupon hunting).
I often wait to use my FPC when product avec bonus pts M and when Métro have multiplier event (their is a new métro in my area... this Métro have some extra deal sheet flyer and a multiplier coupon since 5 or 6 week now).

Points are not reset after 3 months, they just remove the part exchanged for the voucher (125pts/1,00$)... I get between 10-15$ per 3 month to exchange my fpc at Métro, do coupon hunting and buying manager deals products (I have a good métro for manager deals, but this is not the case of all métro)... with airmiles I'm only able to get around 20$ per year.

so often I get 150pts for a transaction that cost me oop3-4$ but with a reg price value of 30-50$... Right now I'm using my silk soy milk, banana and oasis juice fpc at métro... all are easy fpc to get from cereal box.

Annie, your points will be in réserve until you reach 500 points, which this give you 4$ chèque.
Use your FPCS is the best way of increasing your reserves of points. Also use your points with bonus points (if possible). Sometimes, the item is on special (thus cheaper than usual), but is also more profitable thanks to bonus points.
Your check is usually good for one year. There is no fixed date for the awards, but I think it's something like 4-6 times a year.
I don't spend a lot at Metro, but always have good cheque due to the FPCs and bonus points.
And at the same price, I much prefer to go to Metro than anywhere else.

And I must add: your points do NOT reset every 3 months. If you don't have the minimum 500points to get a cheque, you keep them and continue building up.

I do about 20-30% of my grocery shopping at Metro, since my IGA is much better than my Metro (but up north at the cabin, I go to the Metro: very big Metro with super service, their meat is awesome). For a household of 2, I get about 6-7$ per period. Not bad, considering 2 years ago I got nothing!

Thanks for everyone's input. I only learned about using the FPCs there recently because when I did it back in December I got no points and the FPC item didn't even show up on my bill. Now I make sure to give my M&M card before I give the FPCs and it seems to work.

I didn't realize I need 500 pts to cash out though. I have a long way to go!

I never usually go to Metro, even for FPCs, because there was none near me. Last week, though, a new one opened up across the street from the Maxi in Pincourt. I think I will at least use my FPCs there from now on.

Georgia, if you could... for oasis juice fpc wait the week métro have bonus points on those juice. This way you get the regular point + the bonus points (often 25pts per juice)...

And went you start going to métro and buy the oasis juice, métro will probably send you bonus point coupon for oasis juice (or juice with same size specification than the oasis you regularly buy)... The best bang is to wait for a week with bonus points on the juice, use your bonus points coupon on top of it and "paid" with your fpc! I already score 129 pts doing it this way (100pts bonus coupon + 25pts week bonus + 4pts regular).

And when you get the voucher... if the bonus points coupons you received are really for stuff you regularly buy, you just have to wait for bonus week points on those product + your bonus pts coupon and you paid with your voucher. You could easily rack 400pts or more this way so everything paid themselve each period at métro... and you do your coupon hunting in the same time!!!!

I think this program is way better than any others. Now, If Metro can start to have decents price.

It works for me because it's close to home, so I always get the essentials there:bread and milk, products I know cost the same as anywhere else. Although there are never bonus points for milk, there are indeed for bread, which i can combine with coupons. The meat is fairly priced with respect to its quality and also comes with bonus points at times.
It just sucks that Metro coupons have such short expiry date. I've had to play wizard and leave them on the shelves because a deal never arrived. Besides, one can get 100 additional points a month for completing the online survey (25 points for each one every week). My checks nowadays are not as higher as before, but still manage to get around $8-$10 every trimester.
All in all, I think it's a far better program than Airmiles at IGA.
