Thread: So mad about Zellers. Just can't get a deal.

This isn't the first time I've griped about my local Zellers, but I hope it'll be the last. This is probably just the employee's screwup and we're all human so I don't blame her, but it upsets me as it's the SECOND trip I've made there in as many days.
YESTERDAY there was a BOG1/2OFF sale on underwear in packages. I picked up 2 pairs for my mom and 2 for my sister. The sign specifically said must be of same commodity, so one of each of the same price was taken off, not the two lower priced ones, which is kinda nice.
BUT there was a sign saying one specific kind (6 pk fruit of the looms) were $9 down from $11.97.
So they rang up wrong. Instead of $9 and $4.50, I got 12 and 6 off. So today I go back, hoping to get my money back.
First the cashier, in typical Zellers fashion, was skeptical and not so nice about it. I told her the sign was no longer there but had been up yesterday. A young girl was called over to find the sign and did. It seems only people under 30 that work here are even sort of nice. Desk lady was then kind of snarky about how the sign expired on the 28th. Sorry that isn't my problem. It was left up.
So instead of refunding me back 12 and 6 as I originally paid, she refunded me 8.98 on each. Okay, same difference. I can live with THAT.
THEN she charged me $9 for one and 11.97 (original price) for the second, and the half came off that, so $6. So I'm paying 9+6 = 15 instead of $13.50.
I know it probably wasn't her fault, she made an error, but I'm so irritated at how I have to go back AGAIN.
I just wanted my BOGO1/2 underwear. I'm going back Saturday since I'm not wasting MORE gas going there alone again, I'll just go on the weekly shopping trip. Sort of peeved that I've wasted $10 in gas for a $5 refund that I only got half of.
Zellers just grinds my gears. Bad customer service, blaming the customer for assuming a price on the shelf was correct, and snarky cashiers and CS desk people.
Au revoir, Zellers. Glad you're going! This thread is currently associated with: ZellersLast edited by Chantel; Mon, Jul 2nd, 2012 at 06:27 PM.

You actually have more patience than me. After the second mistake, I would just return the items and not bother trying to fix the mistake again.
Just remember to check your receipt before you leave the store!

Chantel, I do the same, I sometimes think " ok they fixed it " , and leave.
Then when Ilook closer at the receipt and see that they messed up a second time? Ugh, and having to drive back or just bite the loss.
I always try to remember to check the receipt before hand, but sure enough the time I don't check is when the error is made.
I wonder how much different service, deals, CS and coupons will be with Target?

The funniest thing is that I did scan over the receipt, but I wasn't doing the correct math. That's what I get for going after work, my brain is mush. I just trust people because I know how to do MY job and that lady has worked there for at least a few years, she knows what she's doing, or should.
And I definitely would just return them, but they're for my sister and she needs them. I'm just so done dealing with the back and forth bs. And I only have an ounce of patience because I work retail and get treated like crap regularly by people, so I never treat anyone else like that.
Most every employee my Zellers has is nasty, but for the good ones I wish them luck in getting new jobs. For the mean ones, I hope they stop working retail because on my WORST day I would never even THINK of speaking to a person the way Zellers employees act every day.

It's strange, but I've found Zellers employees to be some of the worst too. Perhaps it's the company that makes them so sour? It's the only place where I've ever been looked at in absolute disgust because I dare question what the total on the register said.
Compare that to Walmart, where they've never given me any negativity when I mention something isn't what I thought it would be.
And I don't mean to say that all Zellers CS reps are rude/incompetent. I have had some very nice ones. It just seems that a higher proportion of indifferent workers and negative CS experiences happen to me at Zellers (and I never even shopped there much).

I don't shop at Zellers anymore for the same reasons. We had 2 Zellers but Walmart bought one so now we have two Walmarts woo hoo

I thought I had this all straightened out today when I went to get my SECOND refund.
Then I come home and my sister tells me she doesn't want the items because they're not 'right'. I spent two hours in there looking at every damn package, she didn't even say thank you and instead of saying to take them back, she let us waste MORE gas to go up there for a $2 refund instead of just taking them back.
UGHHHH.
