Thread: Best epilator?
-
Tue, Jul 3rd, 2012, 02:59 PM #1
Hi everyone,
I'm looking at getting an epilator since I'm getting tired of shaving everyday. The Braun Silk Epil 5 seems to have good reviews - has anyone used it?
Please let me know if you have an epilator and whether or not you like it.

I also heard good things about the Braun silk epilator, but i couldn't find it anywhere in stores.
I bought the Remington Smooth and Silky (EP-6010) for about $40 at Walmart a month ago. Its AMAZING! I have thick dark italian hair and it thinned pretty quickly. I epilate about once a week. To prepare, i take a hot bath and exfoliate to prevent ingrown hairs. Then i start epilating against the growth and go in small circles for any hairs that get missed. The first time i epilated it was VERY painful because of my thick hair from years of shaving. Uhg. I will never ever go back to shaving. The more epilating i did, the less painful it got. Now it just feels like im being poked a bunch of times... lol.time goes by like a shooting star ~

Thanks tearless, that's cheaper than the Braun one too!
lecale - that's what worries me about epilating. I've tried waxing and I just don't like that you have to really grow your hair out before you can wax it off. Thanks for the tip about the roll on wax - sounds interesting!

when i bought one about 5 or 6 yrs ago, i found this site, and the reviews helped me sort things out a bit.

i ended up buying the emjoi dual one off ebay, brand new, for around 35 bucks i think.

i was swimming 3 days a week, and have dark hair with medium skin. i really needed this lol. i liked teh epilator for being a convenient alternative to waxing. it scared off my daughter at first, and my hubby would laugh cause i would be hidden away in the bathroom running my 'lawnmower'.
now i am waiting for a sale on the tria laser, so i can buy it. really at $400 it isn't a bad price, but i am *frugal* and wold like to wait for a good discountIn 2020 I had 100 FREE Grocery pickups! Subscribe to PC Optimum Insiders & get 25,000 PC Optimum pts

I have the Philips Satinelle Soft which I love and have used for years. I does a really good job at removing all the hairs. I forgot how much it cost, I purchased it at The Bay. I went to the Calgary Stampede last year and forgot my epilator and had to buy another one. This one is by Veet, I bought it at Shoppers for $80.00. It doesnt remove the hair as good as the Philips but it's a lot more gentle. I've epilated for years so it doesnt hurt any more, because of this I use the Philips.

congrats!
is it your first time using one? be warned, if it is your first time, you might cry
after a few minutes you hit a level of numbness and stop feeling the pain anymore.

I have the Braun silk epilator and it's my second one. My first lasted a few years and on to #2. I like it a lot. It is NOT comfortable, but it works well. For me, it is more bearable than waxing because my skin can't take the pulling with wax. I bought my MIL one also. I sometimes get broken hairs, but its quite minimal. I like that it works on very short hairs. I do recommend it.
LF: Chapman's ice cream and Dare coupons.DS has a peanut allergy so it's the ONLY ones we buy.
Lots FT.
